2753_TQL_Case_Study_F_PRINT_Layout 1 02/05/2011 09:03 Page 2CASE STUDYcase study<strong>AFV</strong> <strong>Driving</strong> & <strong>Maintenance</strong>,<strong>Gunnery</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Communications</strong><strong>Training</strong> to the UK Army’sArmour CentreFor ten years TQ supplied management,trainers <strong>and</strong> training support for the threetrade training schools at The Armour Centre inBovington <strong>and</strong> Lulworth.conversion training courses to the Field Army’s<strong>Gunnery</strong> <strong>and</strong> D&M instructors on a new range ofBattle Group Thermal Imaging sights fitted to theCVR(T) <strong>and</strong> Warrior range of <strong>AFV</strong>’s.THE TRAINING REQUIREMENTThe training covered <strong>Driving</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Maintenance</strong>(D&M) on tracked Armoured Fighting Vehicles(<strong>AFV</strong>’s), Signals (Communication <strong>and</strong> InformationSystems) <strong>and</strong> <strong>Gunnery</strong>.THE TQ PROGRAMMEThe TQ instructors delivered a wide range ofcourses to a variety of soldiers; from Phase 2soldiers undergoing their initial Special-to-Armtraining after completion of their basic training upto specialised, equipment-specific training forinstructors. TQ also delivered Train-the-TrainerTQ obtained ISO9001 certification for itsoperation at The Armour Centre.MEASURING SUCCESS:TQ conducted regular course reviews <strong>and</strong>informal <strong>and</strong> formal instructor assessments tomaximise effectiveness <strong>and</strong> quality; <strong>and</strong> providedinnovative solutions in partnership with thecustomer to improve the quality, cost effectiveness<strong>and</strong> efficiency of training delivery.Average pass rates during the contract durationwere between 88% <strong>and</strong> 100%.
