Although Jim Reid remains available on an ad hoc basis, the Board subsequently advertised for a replacementAssistant Biologist. This produced a strong field of applicants, including Polly Burns who had joined us for fourmonths during the summer as one of our Seasonal Biologists. Polly had just graduated from the ScottishAssociation of Marine Science, part of the University of the Highlands & Islands, with a First Class HonoursDegree in Marine Science. She proved to be the strongest candidate and accepted our offer of a permanentposition. We wish her every success in her new appointment.Assistant Biologist Polly Burns joined the Board in June 2013 and became a full-time member of staff in September(Photo: Sally Worsdall)43
