ment. It will have to be a field approvalusing the later model airplanes as thereferenced data. It's simple and better.RAPID addressBill PepplerOttawa, Ontario. CanadoQ: What is the correct mailingaddress to order a Bonanza aircraft partdirectly from the factory?A: RAPID, 715 East 13th St., POBox 1000, Andover KS 67002-1000;phone: 888-727-4344.Aluminum polishTim FountainMiami Beach, FloridaQ: I have a polished aluminum spinnerthat has some spots of corrosion onit. I have been trying to get rid of themby polishing by hand, but it seems likean impossible task. Is there a better wayto get a high polish other than hand polishing?A: Cenainly. The small orbital powerbuffers work well, and there are severalproducts that work well as polishes.Met-All and Flitz are good ones availablein many hardware stores. Spony's(800-LTFfOFFJ has a metal polish, andChief (800-447-3408) has several differentones.Super Travel AirRobert G/otthaorGeorges Hall, NSW AustraliaQ: In a recent ABS Magazine I cameacross a Tech Tips question from TomPrewitt about a Super Travel Air. As adevoted Beech fan and also having agood friend who owns a Travel Air, Ineed to fmd out as much as possibleabout this conversion. Can you tell memore about this aircraft or tell me whereI can find some information?A: This was a Doyne conversion andwe have been trying to find who boughtit. It had Lycoming 540s. The FAAassisted by trying to find the address ofthe STC holder but so far no luck. Cananyone help?AD 94-20-04Marvin QuaidMonterey. CaliforniaQ: Call me dense but I don't understandthe AD 94 Rev 39 that calls forcompliance by December 10, 2002. Ihave a 035, SIN 4662 with the tail modand I have had annual and lOO-hourinspections. 50 what does that gibberishtell me to do? I have given my copy tomy IA to decipher.A: If there is documentation as toprevious compliance with 94-20-04(cou ld be SB2188 in 1988) plus weightand balance reviews, balancing of controlsand records of repetitive inspectionsper 94-20-04, then an audit and visualinspection is probably all that's needed. If a paint shop had entered "balancedcontrols" with no references andno data, then your mechanic shouldrecheck. If you've had hangar rash or aradio shop add static wicks or such, your mechanic shou ld check everything. The main purpose of the reissuewas to remove the shon-chord airplanesfrom this AD.More on AD 94-20-04Allan RoeFarmington, ConnecticutQ: The revision of AD 94-20-04refers to increasing the size of cables. Isthis new, and are we going to ha ve topull the ruddervators to rig themthrough the phenolic blocks?A: This was always pan of 94-20-04(SB 2188). Your airplane should havealready been done and actua lly wasoriginally the correct size.Yoke position8if/lullRomono, CaliforniaQ: In level flight, my yokes are notstraight up, but rather turned to the II to11:30 position. Is there a way to adjustthe fl ight control system so they are inthe correct position in level flight?A: The cables have turnbuckles andwhen properly adjusted they shouldleave the colunm tang in the venicalposition. The yoke may also be internallytimed with gear teeth and adjustablecables. The problem is more likely theyoke timing. Many of them have beenmarked with paint dots to time them, which can be easily checked.Rigging shopsBob VonderheidenLincoln. NebraskaQ: Is there a shop close to Lincoln,Nebraska, that I can take my 1976V35B to have the rigging checked? It ismy understanding that special tools andtemplates are required to accomplishthis ta k. Do most Beech dealers stockthis required equipment?A: Elliott in Omaha or Des Moinesshould have the required tools andboards. You might also try ExecutiveBeechcraft in Kansas City Downtown.Control rods, wing levelerMarty He/robed/anCanyon Lake, CaliforniaQ: I have a 1965 535 that flies withthe ball halfway out to the left in levelflight. I think it staned after the ServiceBulletin or AD on the ruddervatorpushrod was complied with.Sometimes it flies left wing downand when I step on the left rudder pedal, the ball almost centers and the wingslevel out. It takes a lot of pressure tocenter the ball and too much to hold forany length of time. Also, I ha ve a pneumatic wing levelerthat doesn't seem to help the problem.I don't know if it affects the riggingbut it may. The center knob with whichI turn the airplane has a detent in it thatshould center the wing leveler, but it isabout a quarter inch to the right and putsme into a shallow right bank. I can centerit by moving the knob straight upoutside the detent, but if I forget to centerit, I am way off course to the right. The ball stays left.I. How do I or the shop fix the rigging?2. What shop(s) could 1 use to rig her?Page 77 14ABS March 2003
