The definition is not intended to cover middle ranking or more junior individuals inthe foregoing categories.Self-regulatory organisation (SRO)An SRO is a body that represents a profession (e.g. lawyers, notaries, other independent legal professionalsor accountants), and which is made up of member professionals, has a role in regulating the persons thatare qualified to enter and who practise in the profession, and also performs certain supervisory ormonitoring type functions. For example, it would be normal for this body to enforce rules to ensure thathigh ethical and moral standards are maintained by those practising the profession.31
