Overall feedback hasbeen held to a minimum and is employed only tostabilize the gain and the operating point. Thisdesign approach results in amplifiers with excellentperformance under the most demanding dynamic

input and load conditions. As evidence of the stresson dynamic rather than static or steady-statedistortion mechanisms, transient intermodulationdistortion measures less than 0.03% by the DIM 100test. All internal components areeasily accessible through removal of top and bottompanels. Front panel graphic details are incorporatedon the rear side of a polycarbonate laminate which isvirtually indestructible.The 6230,626O and 6290 use multiple 200-wattoutput devices in complementary configuration forhigh reliability and low distortion. At rated powerinto 8 ohms, these output devices are operated atless than 35% of their rated power dissipation. Thebenefit is high reliability and long component life.The 62 15,623O and 6260 employ a continuous dutypower supply section common to both channels. The6290 has two totally independent power supplieswith separate power switches and fusing.Reliable operation of these amplifiers is ensuredthrough the following protection modes: Current islimited under improper load or drive conditions.Output relays, with front panel LED indication,protect the loudspeaker load under conditions of DCoffset or large low-frequency transients. The relaysalso provide power-up, power-down, and “brownout” muting to protect loudspeakers from AC powertransients generated anywhere in the signal path.LED’s on the front panel indicate the onset ofclipping and standby mode.The JBL amplifiers may be operated in the normalstereophonic mode, dual monophonic mode, orbridged monophonic mode. A rear panel switch setsthese modes, eliminating the need for patch cords oradaptors.Active differential input circuitry offers thebenefits of balanced operation without the use ofinput transformers. Input connections may be madevia 3-pin XL-type connector, three-conductor TRS 6.3mm (‘1’4 in) Jack, or barrier strip.
