Program PurposeTo enroll individuals of Tlingit and/or Haida descent and certifi eseligibility for program compliance for tribal citizens who areseeking federal services that require tribal enrollment.Program DescriptionProgram Compliance establishes eligibility and offi cially registerseligible persons as tribal citizens. Tribal citizens are then issueda citizenship card which identifi es their eligibility for programssuch as Indian Health Services, Higher Education, Employment& Training, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF),Tribal Family & Youth Services, etc.The Enrollment Program also maintains offi cial demographicinformation for our tribal citizens, and works directly with theOffi ce of the President in the coordination of the Tribal DelegateElections. Delegates to the Central Council of the Tlingit andHaida Indian Tribes of Alaska are elected according to the Rulesof Election for Central Council. The Delegates then elect thePresident and Executive Council.Client ServicesEnrollmentCommunities ServedOpen to all communities.Eligibility RequirementsMust provide legal documentation identifying they are of Tlingitand/or Haida descent.Application Process• Complete the enrollment application and provide an originalstate certifi ed copy of birth certifi cate that lists the parent(s)on it.• Further documentation required if one of the following:» Provide Affi davit of Paternity if Tlingit or Haida parent isnot listed on State certifi ed birth certifi cate.» If adopted, provide pre-adoptive birth certifi cate issued bythe State or court decree listing biological Native parent,in addition to amended birth certifi cate.Program Profiles18
