INCOWINDynamic measurementThe Windows based system nowincludes high resolution scanning capability.The standard measurement ofcylinder bores is done with a high resolutionscanning and evaluation of eachlevel with 14400 steps/1024 points perlevel. Axial measurements are carriedthrough as scans with the max. possiblesteps of 600 measured points per millimeter.The greatest advantage of this newscanning capability is the high resolutionrepresentation of the actual boregeometry reflecting the true quality ofmanufacturing precision. The higherdata density allows for the use of standardfiltering routines with a wide rangeof settings. Fourier, gaussian and medianfilters with settings from 0–500 uprare possible.Additionally this advanced „continuousscanning” operation reduces the actualmeasuring time to approx. 8 secondsper level regardless of the number ofpoints (24, 72, 144, 180, 360, 720 or1024) chosen for the final evaluation.UpgradeThe described changes require certainhardware pre-requisits. Due to this anupgrade of the system to the new Windowscontrol and evaluation softwaremay require different degrees of alterationsdepending on the age andaccordingly the technological status ofthe system.Older systems that still operate with theelectronics unit type EC100M are neithercapable to operate in the high resolutionscanning method nor functionablewith the new INCOWIN software.Therefore, they will need to be convertedto the electronics unit type EC110.The communication between the PCand the electronics unit is carriedthrough by a standard serial interface inconjunction with the new INCO2 interfaceboard which replaces the previousinterface.Customized print layoutsNumerous support tools23
