Roaming ShellA two-week design-build freelab project, done in collaborationwith a group of 8 students. Inspired by theradiolaria exoskeleton, the lightweight wood structurecontains a rule of growth and proportion to allowunitized aggregation. The structure was designed torecord the tides at the Bay of Fundy through a balanceof buoyancy and sand markings.Over 350 units were constructed to make up this 20’tall structure.
NetmakingThis was a design-build freelab project done in collaboration with a group of 7students. The project began as an examination of the qualities and articulationof visible and invisible spatial envelopes as factors affecting behaviour. The materialityand weaving of fishing nets native to the maritimes are used to createthe installation. These nets have an invisible strength, and create spatial pocketsthat affect perception and behaviour at the school-front location.
