Yourwillingness to serve and represent your segment of the private security industry and profession is appreciated.PSSAB was created in 1976. It was designed to advise the Criminal Justice <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Board</strong> (CJSB) and theDepartment of Criminal Justice <strong>Services</strong> (DCJS) on all issues relating to regulation of private securitybusinesses. Virginia is considered a national leader in developing training and regulatory standards forprivate security and the PSSAB plays a very important role.As a member of the PSSAB, you will be required to attend a PSSAB meeting once per quarter or four times peryear. <strong>Board</strong> members are also expected to serve on and attend PSSAB committees and subcommittees that mayinvolve current issues regarding training, regulatory, conference, and communication projects or tasks.PSSAB members represent the entire private security industry profession and strive to make recommendationsthat benefit all licensees and registrants. PSSAB members are required to help address issues and ideasreported to them <strong>from</strong> their segment of the industry that they represent.On behalf of the entire <strong>Private</strong> <strong>Security</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Advisory</strong> <strong>Board</strong>, we welcome your willingness and desire toserve the licensees and registrants for the private security industry and profession of the Commonwealth ofVirginia.Regards,Paul D. <strong>Private</strong> <strong>Security</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Advisory</strong> <strong>Board</strong>Appointment NoticeEffective July 1, <strong>2013</strong>, there will be one (1) vacant position on the <strong>Private</strong> <strong>Security</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Advisory</strong> <strong>Board</strong>.The vacancies are in the following area:<strong>Private</strong> Investigator Representative (1)Reference: § 9.1-143. <strong>Private</strong> <strong>Security</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Advisory</strong> <strong>Board</strong>; membership.The Criminal Justice <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Board</strong> (CJSB) has the statutory authority of appointing the members of the<strong>Private</strong> <strong>Security</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Advisory</strong> <strong>Board</strong>. The CJSB Nomination Committee will fully evaluate all applicantsfor the vacant positions prior to making its recommendation to the full <strong>Board</strong> for final appointment to thePSSAB. The CJSB will make appointments to the PSSAB not later than the June 13, <strong>2013</strong> CJSB meeting.Individuals appointed to the PSSAB will be required to submit annual financial disclosure statements pursuantto Virginia Code §202-3118 and complete Conflict of Interest training every two years.For additional information about becoming a board member, please read the attached letter <strong>from</strong> the Chairmanof the <strong>Private</strong> <strong>Security</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Advisory</strong> <strong>Board</strong>, Paul Ellis and feel free to contact the members. Themembers of the PSSAB that currently fill these positions are eligible for re-appointment.
