CO-CURRICULARS CORNER<strong>NUSTNEWS</strong> / OCTOBER <strong>2013</strong>29MCE Pantomime <strong>2013</strong>The Convocation <strong>of</strong> Cadets Engineering Degree Course (CED-73) heralded the organization <strong>of</strong> a Pantomime, to bid themfarewell. The Cadets <strong>of</strong> Military College <strong>of</strong> Engineering under the presidency <strong>of</strong> NC Sajawal Bhatti, prepared a variety <strong>of</strong> skits,songs, tableaus, parodies <strong>and</strong> videos with utmost devotion <strong>and</strong> exhibited their innate talents. Their laughter filled the eveningas the Garrison Officers, their families <strong>and</strong> Cadets <strong>of</strong> MCE enjoyed the splendid performances; the parodies <strong>of</strong> various instructorsat MCE were most relished. Comm<strong>and</strong>ant Military College <strong>of</strong> Engineering, Maj. General Anwar Ul Haq Chauhdry was theguest <strong>of</strong> honor. The chief guest commended the brilliant effort put in by the participants <strong>and</strong> organizers <strong>and</strong> encouraged themto keep up their work <strong>and</strong> continue adding the extra colors to the seemingly stale air <strong>of</strong> Risalpur in years to come.Movie screening for fund raisingThe screening <strong>of</strong> ‘Iron Man 3’ on <strong>October</strong> 4 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm at SCEE auditorium was organized by NUST Community ServicesClub (NCSC) in collaboration with Taba Foundation. The event was a fund raiser for the earthquake victims <strong>of</strong> Baluchistan.The movie screened was on American science fiction, action, adventure film, carefully selected to attract a large audience whichresulted in more than 360 tickets being sold out.Before the movie, the President <strong>of</strong> Taba foundation delivered a small speech, assuring the safe passage <strong>of</strong> funds to the victims <strong>and</strong>a brief background on community service organizations working in Pakistan. An inspirational clip <strong>of</strong> Quaid-e-Azam MohammadAli Jinnah was also played which contained his beautiful quotations <strong>and</strong> a speech about importance <strong>of</strong> working for humanity <strong>and</strong>mankind. Afterwards, a quiz was arranged with questions about the movie <strong>and</strong> the speech shown earlier <strong>and</strong> was followed by thedistribution <strong>of</strong> prizes among the students who answered correctly. The President <strong>of</strong> Taba foundation, Mr. Umair in his closing remarksappreciated his team’s effort <strong>and</strong> stated, “We are really glad to work in collaboration with NCSC <strong>and</strong> look forward to havingmore such events in future.”Literary Scavenger HuntNLC’s Scavenger Hunt took place on September 30 amidst greatexcitement <strong>and</strong> enthusiasm shown by the students <strong>of</strong> NUST forthis event. The event was organized by the NUST Literary Circle<strong>and</strong> was open to all NUST schools. The participants had to seeka list <strong>of</strong> items on the list. Participants were required to guess theliterary clues to reach the next destination on the list, alongsidecollecting specific things which made the event even more challenging<strong>and</strong> competitive. With the prize money <strong>of</strong> PKR 6000 atstake, students were seen hurrying from one place to anotherto complete the list on time. The winner <strong>of</strong> the event was team‘The Banana Warriors’ which included Saim, Muteeb, ShehrozeAhmed, Mudassir <strong>and</strong> Umer Mushtaq.
