Body modifications were virtually endless and included an extendedoval grille, extended front fenders with forward-sloping headlights, front-fender cutouts,body side coves, a restyled rear roofline and rear deck, as well as a radical rear fenderand taillight treatment. Tiller steering was originally used, with the assistance of famedcustomizer Gene Winfield, and a heavily chromed and beautified early Chrysler “Hemi” V-8with a six-carb intake system provided power. The highly detailed engine bay even featuredupholstered panels! Distinctively finished in lavender, “Truly Rare” toured the show circuitwith Mr. Howard and appeared on the cover of the Fall 1965 edition of Popular Customs.The car was subsequently refinished, and a conventional steering wheel replaced thetiller steering arrangement.
