Founded in 1998 by Nandu Narayanan, Trident InvestmentManagement is a New York-based firm specializing inalternative investments.Trident combines top-down analysis with intensive globalresearch, along with a focus on risk controls, in its approachto global investment management. Central to Trident’sapproach is the development of broad investment themes,which express opportunities to exploit trends and changesin the markets. Trading ideas and holdings flow from thesethemes.The Trident Opportunities funds are true hedge funds,with a low correlation to the broad markets and strong riskmanagement. Trident’s distinct contrarian views and uniqueapproach have resulted in exceptional returns over the longterm.Nandu Narayanan, Chief InvestmentOfficer, has over 20 years of investmentindustry experience. Previously, heworked as an independent consultanton emerging markets for CreditSuisse Asset Management, as wellas managing Asian and emergingmarkets portfolios for CI Investments. He also worked asChief Equity and Emerging Market Strategist at hedgefund manager Caxton Corporation and as an investmentanalyst at Tiger Management, another hedge fundfirm. Nandu holds a PhD in finance and internationaleconomics and a master’s degree in management, bothfrom the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as wellas a bachelor’s degree with a double major in economicsand computer science from Yale University (summa cumlaude).
