PROJECT-ARTIST STATEMENT Jacqueline van de Geerwww.orange-eyes.weebly.comIn my work, either if it is a visual work or a performance,I aim to create a space in which the public and/or audience are invited toparticipate.Intimacy and re- connection are the key words in my work.I aim to open up the collective experience.This can be happening in various settings, such as a gallery, a hotel-room, aclosed corner of a hall, a tent or a performance space.In my work I use small props, songs, sounds, smells, pictures, clothes,bijoux, souvenirs, postcards, drawings, “objets trouvées” and personalstories and memories, creating an intimate level in order to establish a strongconnection and communication with my audience.My goal is to transform the distance betweenArtist and Spectator into an encounter where the distance will be finallyresolved entirely.This can happen either through a live performance or an interactiveinstallation.
