As healthcare staff, yourviews are very valuable to the CQC. This survey measures staff awareness,knowledge, and opinion <strong>of</strong> how the CQC regulates and inspects.Your responses will give them important information on how the they mightimprove how they work and communicate with frontline health staff, so pleasetake ten minutes to complete this important survey, and make sure yourpr<strong>of</strong>ession’s voice is heard and can make a difference. This survey does make a difference and changes havealready been implemented following last year’s feedback.The survey should take no more than ten minutes to complete and is open throughout <strong>November</strong> to give asmany staff as possible the chance to share their views and experience. The survey can be accessed by clickinghere. So if you are a frontline member <strong>of</strong> staff, please take the time to complete the survey.A new managed service for booking all agency staff is comingAs part <strong>of</strong> our plan to deliver better patient care, we are changing the way weprovide temporary non-medical agency staff across the Trust.From the end <strong>of</strong> January 2014, HB Retinue, a company who specialise in providingagency staff in healthcare settings, and currently provide our medical agencylocums, will introduce phase two <strong>of</strong> the project, looking at the booking <strong>of</strong> nonmedicalagency staff. The change will enable us to move to a paperless systemwhere you will be able to book temporary agency non-medical staff and approve their timesheets via aweb-based tool. The key changes, include:• A single provider for booking all temporary agency staff• Web based booking and approval system, which will streamline telephone bookings and emails• Paper timesheets will be replaced by electronic timesheets which can be approved onlineThese changes do not affect bank staff. Bookings for bank staff should continue to be made in the usual way,in line with the relevant divisional authorisation procedures. www.facebook.com/UHMBTIssue 346, <strong>12</strong> <strong>November</strong> 2013We’re committed to partnership workingHelping to keep on track with our commitment to improve partnershipworking, Kirk Panter, Staff Side Chair, and Wendy Scott, Staff Side Vice Chair,have a programme <strong>of</strong> site visits which they are undertaking with DavidWilkinson, Director <strong>of</strong> Workforce and Organisational Development.The visits are proving to be a great way for issues and concerns to be exploredfrom an alternative perspective, and for David to encourage staff to promoteeverything that is good about the Trust. Following a recent visit to FGH tomeet members <strong>of</strong> the catering team, Andy Bickle, Head Chef, was supported to attend a James MartinMasterclass. As a result, Andy has been integral in getting the catering team to promote their excellentservices. The visits have also provided David with some helpful feedback about what it needs to be done t<strong>of</strong>urther improve staff experience.Kirk and Wendy said: “It is good for David to come out and look at things from a different viewpoint and tohear things first hand from staff about how we can create a great place to work.”The first <strong>of</strong> the new style Joint Negotiating and Consultative Committee (JNCC) meetings was held lastweek, and gave all staff side representatives an opportunity to meet informally with David Wilkinson andPaula Roles, Deputy Director <strong>of</strong> HR, to discuss any current issues and hot topics. The new JNCC agenda hasbeen designed to allow more scope for discussion <strong>of</strong> key issues facing the Trust, as well as for approvingpolicies and documents and to ensure that local staff engagement, through the Divisional CollaborativeWorking Groups, are working effectively.In addition to the changes being made to the JNCC, the Joint Working Group (JWG) will meet on alternatemonths (the next one is 4 December) with a new policy development session taking place after the JWG.Kirk and Wendy want to make sure that the policies relating to staff work well and contribute to makingUHMBT a great place to work. The next Partnership Event will be held on 10 December, so look out for moreupdates in Weekly News after that.Staff Survey - have you completed yours?As <strong>of</strong> last week, the return rate for Staff Surveys was 40 per cent which is a greatresponse. If you’ve already completed and returned your Staff Survey, thank you. Ifyou haven’t completed it yet, there’s still time to ensure your voice is heard. Allcompleted questionnaires are posted directly to Quality Health, and we do not haveaccess to any <strong>of</strong> the information included on the forms.What you tell us really can help make a difference. Last year you said you didn’t feelyou had the chance to get your voice heard. Since then, we’ve arranged drop in sessions with the ChiefExecutive to give you the opportunity to keep up to date what what’s happening across the Trust, and askany questions you may have. We are also rotating the Board meeting across the Trust, and are inviting youto join the Board for an informal discussion over lunch.
