Homecoming 2011Dr. Kenneth A. Bowman ’70 was awarded thePioneer Award during the Alumni Associationmeeting. The award was presented by Dr.Nancy B. Moody, president of <strong>Tusculum</strong> <strong>College</strong>.Bowman is currently serving his AlmaMater as chair of the Board of Trustees.Calvin Britt, left,and Erika Witt werecrowned HomecomingKing and Queen athalftime of the footballgame. Both seniors,Britt is a sports sciencemajor from Augusta,Ga., and Witt is amuseum studies majorfrom Roanoke, Va.Paige Malone Mengel ’88, left, presented DanBarnett, associate professor of chemistry, theNational Living Faculty Award during theAlumni Association meeting.Members of the 1966 men’s basketball team, who won theirconference championship that year, as well as cheerleadersfrom that year, were recognized at the Sports Hall of Fameinduction ceremony and prior to the football game.Dr. Jane Lovvorn Morse ’77 presented theFrontier Award to Rebecca Muncy ’05.Muncy served as in both alumni and giftservices positions for her Alma Mater andis currently a teacher and coach at DavyCrockett High School in Washington County.Members of the Class of 1961 presented a class gift of morethan $6,000 to Dr. Bob Pollock ’65, president of the AlumniAssociation. Class members decided to designate their gifttoward the purchase of furniture for the patio outside ofChalmers Conference Center in the Niswonger Commons.35
