Mechanical department<br />
The mechanical department <strong>is</strong> divided into four<br />
areas. Mechanical work shop, Metal work shop,<br />
Vehicle work shop <strong>and</strong> Production area where<br />
metal electrode casing for Icel<strong>and</strong>ic Alloys are<br />
produced.<br />
The area that GT Tækni has for the mechanical<br />
department <strong>is</strong> a hall of 1.000 m2 <strong>and</strong> 10 m height.<br />
There are four large doors high. There are two<br />
overhead cranes of 5 tons each <strong>and</strong> one 16 tons<br />
lift in the Vehicle workshop. The workshops are<br />
well equipped for all mechanical <strong>and</strong> electrical<br />
work <strong>and</strong> <strong>main</strong>tenance.<br />
Production<br />
In our production line the Company produces<br />
annually 1.000 pcs of metal electrode casings.<br />
The dimension of each casing <strong>is</strong> 2m in height <strong>and</strong><br />
Electrical department<br />
The Electrical department <strong>is</strong> divided into two areas,<br />
the Electric shop <strong>and</strong> the Electronic shop. The<br />
area that GT Tækni has for the electrical<br />
department <strong>is</strong> approximately 115 m2. The Electric<br />
shop <strong>is</strong> equipped with 1 tons overhead crane <strong>and</strong> a<br />
large door. The workshops are well equipped for<br />
all electrical work high or low voltages, electronic<br />
work <strong>and</strong> <strong>main</strong>tenance.<br />
The electrical department has license to operate in<br />
general electrical work (B-license) <strong>and</strong> in the high<br />
voltage electrical work (A- license). The electrical<br />

In our Vehicle shop nothing <strong>is</strong> impossible.<br />
Repair of cars, fork lifts, trucks <strong>and</strong> everything<br />
on wheels or belts from bicycles to over 40 tons<br />
container truck lift. We have special knowledge<br />
in hydraulic systems in stocking cars. The<br />
stoking cars are rebuilt in our Vehicle shop so<br />
they can take the load when stoking in extreme<br />
hot environment in the FeSi furnaces.<br />
In the Vehicle shop there long experience in servicing :<br />
Hyster – Caterpillar – Kalmar – Case – Still - Volvo – Komatzu – Brokk – Clark<br />
department also has the responsibility <strong>and</strong><br />
licenses for all electrical equipments in the<br />
Hvalfjördur tunnel.<br />
The electrical department h<strong>and</strong>les all general<br />
repair <strong>and</strong> <strong>main</strong>tenance as well as renewal <strong>and</strong><br />
rebuilding of electrical equipments.<br />
The electrical department serves the whole<br />
electrical spectrum within the heavy industry,<br />
from the low voltages to the extreme high<br />
voltage end of the industry.<br />
In the electrical department there <strong>is</strong> much experience in working with:<br />
ASEA – Siemens – <strong>and</strong> ABB high voltage equipments – PLC- A <strong>and</strong> B license
