Please let mehave these for the next issue as well as articlesabout lesser known runs, outstanding performances andsome more of those numerous articles please.Peter Knott, Magazine Editor.CHAIRMAN'S NOTESIn the course of the last three years there hasbeen a continued upsurge in the number of fell runnerstaking part in our events. The number of events hasalso increased and all show increasing entry lists.Several of our runners have taken part in foreignraces with considerable success. There is no doubtthat fell running can hold its own with any other sportin the country.The enlarged scope of our activities is very welcomebut brings additional responsibilities toorganisers and fell runners. We must keep the sportin the same tradition .of friendliness as hithertoand we must avoid arousing antagonism in other quartersby our continued and increasing use of the hill andfell country which we all love.Without the help and co-operation of landownersand official bodies we could not possibly stage thenumber and variety of events as we do to-day and Iappeal to everyone to help in every way possible thatthe present happy relationship continues.The Fell Runners’ Association with its eventslist and News letters continues to provide an opportunityfor everyone to express their own opinions andto have a say in the organisation of their sport.This means hard work by the Association Committee andI am sure all fell runners will join with me in thankingthem for the unstinted effort they put in.F.
