From the DirectorThe joy and enthusiasm that you see on stage is something that I havebeen able to see all summer, and I am thrilled that you can experience itwith those of us in The A, B, C’s of Broadway. As a director, I havebeen honored to work with talented people who were willing to try anything(even jazz hands). As a result, we have shared a lot of laughs andcreated a lot of memories. In the end, the hard work and dedication ofthe cast, crew, and musicians have made this tremendous show.To the cast, thank you for your dedication and talent. You are the dreamcast because your “glee club” spirit is infectious. I love watching youon stage. More than that, I have loved the moments that we have hadduring rehearsals. This summer, we have celebrated birthdays, an engagement, and a pseudo-marriage. We also shared some recipes (vs.remedies), scuttling, jazz hands, Ethel Merman, and Bolivia Fig NewtonJohn. Thanks for making this so much fun!On the technical side, I would like to thank Bonnie Oppenheimer for allher help. Music question? Ask Bonnie for help. Clapping question? AskBonnie for help. Air conditioning flooding? Ask Bonnie for help. Nomatter what challenge we faced, she always came through and helpedwith everything. Because of her talent, patience, and understanding, shewas the perfect AD for the show. Thanks, Bonnie, for everything thatyou have done. Also, Casey, Patricia, and Simone, you make everyonelook good! Thanks for all that you have done. Casey and Simone, I reallyappreciate the fact that you had to work without air conditioning. You two are extremely dedicated!I must take a moment to express my appreciation to Carole Sorensonand Bruce Lesley. These two musical directors made my job easy.Carole worked with the cast in June in order to help us learn all 26songs. With her patience, talent, and birthday cake surprises, we wereable to make it through the arduous task. Although the audience maynot see Carole on the stage, I can assure you that her work is centerstage. She is truly the unseen cast member, and we could not have doneit without her. Also, she prepared the cast for Bruce’s leg of the show.Bruce had the challenge of learning the 26 songs after the cast, but hedid a wonderful job of stepping in during the month of July. He workedcountless hours preparing this music and practicing with Jim and James, and their dedication shows.
Bruce, I will miss our morning meetings and music talks! Thank you forall that you have done. This theatre is fortunate to have the talent of all ofthese musicians.Other individuals who gave their support should also be applauded. When I asked for some help, these volunteers were ready for thechallenge. There are too many people to name them all, but I must say aspecial thank you to Thomas La Foe, Sarah Norris, Sue Snow, and LyleTate. These individuals went beyond helping—they were as dedicated tothe show as the cast. Also, I must say a special thank you to PattyeArcher, who taught me everything she knows. It is hard to follow in thefootsteps of someone who has directed these summer revues for tenyears. If I had a question, a problem, or a creative block, she helped out. When there were times that I didn’t even believe that it could all be done, she was my “Just One Person.” Thank you, Pattye, for being there! You,too, are a part of the Glee Club. We wouldn’t have it any other way.AlisonThe 2010 Glee Club members include (front row, l-r) Maureen Hughes,Janis Ross, Madeline Golden, MJ Etua, Mary Kathryn Sanford, (middle row,l-r)Blake Garrett, Ruby Brenner, Brenda Mayo, Amy Dupire Jones, AbigailVoller, Tracey Millsaps, Lorraine Hughes, Matt Crane, (back row, l-r) RickRogers, Brian Hawkins, Brad Moreland, John Brocato, and Grant Alexander.
