WRT Mobridge & McLaughlin Area Updates
Jerry Graff has been a true telephone man for many years. He started in the phone industry in
1984 for Northwestern Bell working with open wire and poles. Jerry then worked for Valley Telecommunicati
ons for 29 years, plus owned his own business for two years. He knows the industry
and the countryside bett er than most. Jerry also knows the well-traveled road from Mobridge to
McLaughlin and back again, as he’s been making that trip almost daily since 1998.
Although Jerry will sti ll see a great deal of windshield ti me, his commute has been a bit shorter
since April 2012. With recent reti rements, Jerry was able to make the move from McLaughlin
to Mobridge’s Combinati on Technician positi on.
Jerry and his wife, Diana, are long-ti me residents of Mobridge, SD. They have one daughter
and one son, as well as fi ve grandchildren. Jerry enjoys hunti ng, fi shing, gun collecti ng, woodworking
and yardwork... and his new shorter commute to work!
Devon Mitt leider is getti ng back to his roots with a litt le help from WRT. Mitt leider moved
back to his hometown of McLaughlin, SD and began working at WRT in July 2007. For over 18
years, he had worked throughout the United States for Nortel Networks - a company quite
familiar to WRT’s Central Offi ce/Network Department.
For the past fi ve years, Devon has been working in the McLaughlin/Mobridge,
SD area as a WRT Installer Repair Technician. Although he worked closely
with the CO/Network Department, it was a recent reti rement that
helped transiti on Devon back to his true calling.
As of April 2, 2012, Devon began reporti ng to the
McLaughlin Central offi ce as WRT’s newest Network
Technician. He brings with him experience and
knowledge for the positi on, as well as the
area. Devon and his wife, Shelly, enjoy being closer to
family. They have one son and one daughter. Devon
enjoys being a husband & father, as well as
riding his Harley.
TECH TIP: Telemarketers & the Nati onal Do Not Call List
The term “telemarketi ng calls” is oft en used to describe telephone calls that solicit the sale of goods or services. In most
cases, they are unwanted. Several years ago a law was passed to help limit these unwanted calls by establishing the Nati
onal Do Not Call Registry - see our annual noti fi cati on below:
THE NATIONAL DONOTCALL REGISTRY has been established to off er you a choice about receiving telemarketi ng
calls at home. Registering will stop most telemarketi ng calls but it will not stop calls from certain non-profi t and politi cal
organizati ons and calls from organizati ons with which you have established a business relati onship.
Consumers can register their residenti al telephone numbers, including wireless numbers, on the Nati onal Do-Not-Call
Registry by telephone or by Internet at no cost. The number will be on the Do-Not-Call list the day aft er registrati on; however,
telemarketers have up to 31 days to remove the number from their call lists.
You may register up to three numbers at one ti me if registering on the Internet. If registering via telephone,
you can register only one number at a ti me and you must call from the telephone number
you are registering. A number can be removed from the Do-Not-Call Registry at anyti me.
To register or remove a number from the Do-Not-Call Registry:
CALL 1.888.382.1222 • TTY CALL 1.866.290.4236
REGISTER ON THE INTERNET at www.donotcall.gov
Additi onal informati on can be obtained at www.donotcall.gov
*NOTE: Cell numbers are NOT being released to telemarketers. The DO NOT
CALL LIST does NOT expire. Phone numbers will remain on the list
permanently unless you contact the registry to remove it.
