Eisenhowerwas invited by the 5th Marquess of Ailsa and theKennedy family to accept the keys to a speciallycreated guest apartment on the top floor of thecastle. Named in his honour, it was gifted <strong>for</strong> hisuse during his lifetime, as a gesture of <strong>Scotland</strong>’sgratitude <strong>for</strong> his command of Scottish <strong>for</strong>ces duringWorld War II. General (later President) Eisenhower,members of his family and close friends stayed hereon several occasions.The Eisenhower Apartment, which is completelyself-contained, has six bedrooms and canaccommodate up to 12 guests. In the style of acountry house hotel, the Apartment includes aDrawing Room and Dining Room and is accessedusing the original 1920s elevator.Religious, humanist and civil weddings can takeplace in the Eisenhower Apartment. How to find us<strong>Culzean</strong> is 12 miles south of Ayr and 4 miles west of Maybole.By car<strong>Culzean</strong> is on the A719.Directions from Edinburgh/Glasgow:Leave M8 at J22 and join A77 (M77) signposted Kilmarnock/Prestwick Airport/StranraerBypass Prestwick and AyrStay on A77 (Stranraer) until Maybole, then follow signs <strong>for</strong> A719 to <strong>Culzean</strong>4 miles beyond Maybole turn right into <strong>Culzean</strong> <strong>Castle</strong> & <strong>Country</strong> <strong>Park</strong> (signposted).By busStagecoach (no. 60) from Ayr to Girvan via Maidens.
