Implications for Practice• Nurses and nurse practitioners providing health careservices to African American middle school girls mustbe aware of the association between heterosocialbehaviors and engagement in early intimate sexualbehaviors.• An assessment of the heterosocial behaviors duringroutine examination periods provides an opportunityfor nurses/nurse practitioners to address engaging inearly intimate sexual behaviors.
