Harold, it is only with the continual loving and forgiving grace <strong>of</strong> God,and the support <strong>of</strong> family, fellow <strong>Holy</strong> <strong>Cross</strong> Religious, friends — be they former faculty oradministrators — students and parents that he is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a brother.Bro. Harold juggled the demands <strong>of</strong> living a religious life with teaching biologicalsciences and religious studies, where he enjoyed very much his interactions with students. Hewas also the chief administrator in four co-ed high schools.“I look forward to deepening my relationship with the Lord, in assistingmy religious community in its ministerial needs, as well as the needs <strong>of</strong> the localchurch,” Bro. Harold wrote.25 thRev. Laudeni Ramos Barbosa, C.S.C.Coming from a humble family in the town <strong>of</strong> Piquerobi in Brazil, Fr. Laudeni learned howto pray in the light <strong>of</strong> a kerosene lamp. “I prayed with my arms outstretched, imitating apicture <strong>of</strong> a guardian angel that hung on the wall <strong>of</strong> our poor, simple house,” he wrote.Enchanted with the story <strong>of</strong> Brother André, he entered religious life and became apriest in 1996. His work in formation and teaching and as a pastor and District Superiorhas led him to mature into a “different Laudeni,” he wrote.“Experience has taught me that in life, there are many choices, not for self-promotion,but to serve others selflessly,” he wrote. “A religious must live an ideal life, passionatelydevoted to the Lord and to others fraternally. Christ must always be in the center...seeking Him in the word, in prayer and in fraternal communion.”Anniversary <strong>of</strong> OrdinationRev. Severino Gomes, C.S.C.“Never say ‘No’ to God. If you feel God is calling you, go,” exhorted Fr. Severino.He credits his religious parents and a friar who was a family friend for preparing him toreceive the call, which, although not always easy, continued to grow in his heart as a desirefor religious formation. Since becoming a priest, Fr.
