Ecto-3The Ecto-3 is a collapsible, motorizedunicycle with a sidecar that folds upinto Ecto-1’s passenger-side rear fender.Essentially a unicycle with a powerfullawn mower engine, the Ecto-3 sports atiny sidecar with it’s own wheel makingit a uniquely two-wheeled unicycle. Thesecond wheel in no way helps balancethe unicycle and some may feel it makesthe thing even more difficult to maneuver. It takes about 2 minutes to assemblethe Ecto-3, but it can take an additional2 minutes to get it started. The sidecar is not spacious, having afoot print for an average-sized man tokneel in. Characters with the Fat disadvantageor a + size modifier cannot ridein the sidecar.A Driving (Motorcycle) skill or thePerfect Balance advantage is a prerequisiteto successfully operate this vehiclewith any degree of safety. Despite itshaving two wheels, the Bicycling skillcannot be used as a default for drivingthis vehicle unless the character has aUnicycle specialization, in which casethe skill would be at a -4.The Ecto-3 has a maximum safespeed of approximately 45-50 mph, butcould reach 75 mph if necessary. TheGM should apply negative modifiers atsuch speeds. Motorcycle helmets are requiredby law.Non-EctosOccasionally toys and other merchandiseare inappropriately named bymanufacturers and become part of thepublic’s perception of the “GhostbustersMythology” while being, in reality, entirelyfabricated. Toys, posters and nowInternet images of Ghostbusters manipulatedwith software like Photoshopare capable of altering the public imageof those working under the auspices ofGhostbusters International.Actual Ghostbusters working in thefield must often face public misconceptionsabout their work and their equipment, generated by the mass media. Butin the end, it is all worth the trouble tothe folks at GBI who can turn the mythinto moolah.Ecto-3 (jet)Initially designated the Ecto-3, therewas a one-shot, time-distortion, jet-likevehicle invented by Egon. This vehiclewas renamed the Ecto-4 after Ray debutedthe more stable unicycle version.Eventually the jet concept was entirelyabandoned.Ecto-3 (go-kart)There was a go-kart-like vehicle alsodubbed the Ecto-3 by toy distributors. This device was never a GBI sanctionedvehicle at all, but merely the inspirationof some toy company executive.Ecto-4This is a miniature rocket jet wasdesigned exclusively for Ghostbustercomic books and was never actuallybuilt. The media have build it into theGhostbusters mythology.Ecto-500This ridiculous, souped-up sports carwas exclusively a product of toy merchandisingand never existed in real life.It came complete with oversize exhaustpipes and oversized engine. The enginehad ghost catching nozzles that juttedout from the front of it.ECTO-3Ecto-BomberA toy based on events of an adventurethe original four Ghostbusters had. Theyused a white airplane against a creaturenick-named “The Slob”. The namecomes from the toy, as the actual bomberwas never named or used again. The confusion over the Ecto-bombername resulted in the GBI regulationsabout using the “no ghost” logo and the“Ecto” designation when naming auxiliarycraft. See the last paragraph of AlternateEctomobiles on p. 75.Ecto-IchiThis was an extremely high-tech sixwheeled Ectomobile created for use bythe Ghostbusters on a mission in Japan. It was capable of flight and travelingover water like a hovercraft. It was destroyed by a Godzilla-likemovie monster on it’s first mission andnever rebuilt. GBI has no official connectionwith the builders of this uniquevehicle and thus no legal right to use it’slikeness or to built prototypes along thesame lines.74 Vehicles
