When bilateralsurgery is indicated, it is advised that the two operations be performed several weeks apart. During the intersurgical period, thesecond hip is subjected to ongoing degenerative forces.Single-surgical session bilateral T.P.O. is preferable here because it achieves a more timely cessation of degenerative processesat the second hip than is possible via staged, bilateral T.P.O. procedures.
