xvi How To Change Your Sex
were already getting to be old hat. Nowadays, all the action
is in kids who are transitioning in grade school or high
school, transgender people of color and financial
disadvantage, and trans men becoming visible at last. I think
this book has a lot to offer people in all of those groups, but I
have to apologize for not being especially sensitive to your
particular needs. I simply don't have the experience to talk
about transitioning very young, underprivileged, or male.
I've chosen to leave the book as is, and not presume to try to
address issues for which I'm not really qualified. (For
example, a young trannie told me the hardest thing she ever
did was learning to surf, which I never would have figured.)
I'm happy to report some progress in my own life, if you
are interested. My family eventually did come around to
accepting me, although my mother passed away recently.
And I finally found a lover and life partner in Misha, another
trans woman like myself. However, I never did regain any sex
drive or ability to orgasm, so we live basically asexually—but
with lots of hugs and cuddling. I also published a memoir
about my transition titled LANNIE! MY JOURNEY FROM
MAN TO WOMAN, and I will shortly be releasing an
autobiography called EVERYTHING NICE on Lulu.com.
Upon re-reading, I'm still pretty happy with HOW TO
CHANGE YOUR SEX. I've made a few changes here and
there in this edition, plus I added some notes (marked
[ed.3 – ]) to bring certain things up to date. I hope you enjoy
the book and find it helpful in your journey.
With love,
