This has only happened twicebefore in 1966 and 1981 - see the winning designs below. Two lucky winners will see their designs on oneof the 1st or 2nd Class Christmas stamps from this year’s range. The competition theme is ‘what doesthe Christmas season mean to you?’ , so the children should design an image that best describes whatthe festive holiday period means to them. This is a prize that money cannot buy, and will be a huge honour for the winners and their schools. Thewinning designs will be approved by HerMajesty the Queen, and used on millions ofChristmas cards during the festive season. All competition entries must bereceived by 19 July 2013; pleasecome to the school office to get anENTRY FORM!

WORLD MUSIC DAYLast Friday at Epsom Primary School we celebrated World Music Day. As you walkedaround the school you will have seen and heard: Nursery playing hand bells, Receptionmaking music with brooms and buckets, Y1 drawing musical pictures, Y2 and Y3 childrenusing junk to make music, Y4 playing their recorders, Y5 using junk to drum and Y6 listeningto different genres of music. This is just a snapshot of the day.It was a fun, exciting, music filled day and the children had a lot to say about it......“I enjoyed watching STOMP as you could make musical sounds with your body.”“I enjoyed the assembly the most because I liked performing.”We ended the day with a grand finale of an assembly where every year group gave a musicalperformance. It was a great celebration of the variety that music can bring and therange of talent we have in our school.Lastly I want to say a huge THANK YOU to the parents for supporting the children throughdonations of junk and coming along to the assembly. We also had a range of visiting musicianswho freely gave their time to perform and work with the children. We will be looking to repeat this event next year so watch this space! Many thanks,Mrs Tubby
