The TransPort Flowmeter, The UltimThe TransPortFlowmeter UsesThe Transit-TimeFlow MeasurementTechnique.In this method, two transducersserve as both ultrasonic signalgenerators and receivers. Whenmounted on a pipe, they are inacoustic communication witheach other, meaning the secondtransducer can receive ultrasonicsignals transmitted by thefirst transducer and vice versa.In operation, each transducerfunctions as a transmittergenerating a certain number ofacoustic pulses, then as a receiverfor an identical number ofpulses.The time interval betweentransmission and reception of theultrasonic signals is measured inboth directions. When the liquid inthe pipe is not flowing, the transittimedownstream equals the transit-timeupstream. When the liquidis flowing, the transit-time downstreamis less than the transit-timeupstream.The difference between thedownstream and upstream transit-timesis proportional to thevelocity of the flowing liquid andits sign indicates the direction offlow.FluidFlowFlowmeter TransducersUltrasonic Signal PathTHE COMPLETESOLUTION. The PanametricsTransPort flowmeter system haseverything needed to successfullyperform clamp-on flow measurementsin the field. Included in itsmicroprocessor-based electronicsare an ultrasonic thickness gagefunction (transducer optional)which accurately determinespipe wall thickness for propersetup of the transducers, and awaveform display function fortroubleshooting.Self-contained, built-in rechargeablebatteries for up to tenhours of portable operation arestandard, as are digital and analogoutputs for data uploading andchart recording (a portable printeris optionally available). To calculateenergy flow rates, the TransPortflowmeter comes with inputs foroptional RTD temperature sensors.The complete TransPortflowmeter system, including themeter, two transducers, clampingfixtures and all ancillary equipment,is contained in a durable carryingcase about the size of a briefcase,perfect for easy transporting fromsite to site.ON-SITE DATA LOGGINGLETS YOU TAKE IT ALLWITH YOU. To complete thesystem, we’ve built in a powerfuldata logging function that canstore up to 43,000 data points forlater uploading to a personalcomputer. You can collect datain the field, then import it intoTransit-Time FlowMeasurement Technique.standard spreadsheet or InstrumentData Manager custom softwarefor analysis and storage in youroffice. Instrument Data Managersoftware also permits operationand data retrieval remotely from apersonal computer.A separate memory functionstores up to 20 sets of site parameters,eliminating the need to reenterdata when returning to a sitefor additional measurements. Themeter can even be prgrammedto automatically begin and endmeasurements at predeterminedtimes for unattended operation.AN ALPHANUMERIC ANDGRAPHIC <strong>LIQUID</strong> CRYSTALDISPLAY COMPLETES THEPICTURE. This flowmeter’s large,multifunction LCD presentsmeasured data in both alphanumericandgraphic forms.In addition, ithelps makeprogramingeasy by presenting a softwaremenu that walks you through dataentry and function selection.Standard alphanumericfunctions include flow velocity,volumetric or energy flow rates andtotalized flow in single or doubleline displays in either English (U.S.A.)or metric units.In graphic mode, the LCDshows both real-time and loggeddata.
