Enrollment in <strong>Phys</strong>-<strong>211</strong> and <strong>Phys</strong>-111 is equivalentto taking a calculus-based general physics course. <strong>Topics</strong> covered include kinematics, dynamics,special relativity, and wave motion.You are expected to be in class, and you are responsible for the material covered in each class, and forany work assigned or collected in each class. Late work will be accepted, but with a significantreduction in the score. Since the class meets only once a week for an hour, there will not be time togo back over material for students who miss class. Missing more than three classes may result in afailing grade. Electronics that distract more from learning (iPods, phones, computers used for otherthan note-taking) will be confiscated. Problems will be addressed individually.Your grade will be based on several short homework assignments, quizzes, and a cumulative final.Quizzes and Final 40%Homework 60%The letter grade will be based on a straight percentage scale, 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%. The top andbottom 2% in a division will be a + or -. You are expected to do your own work. Any work you turnin must reflect your own writing, thoughts, and organization. Copying will not be tolerated. Anywork that was copied will receive no credit, and may result in a failing grade for the course.If you are currently taking <strong>Phys</strong> 111, the overall score you earn in <strong>Phys</strong> <strong>211</strong> will count as an examscore in <strong>Phys</strong> 111, and the grade you earn in <strong>Phys</strong> <strong>211</strong> will be the same as in <strong>Phys</strong> 111.Late Work:Late homework may be turned in until the last class day of the term, and will graded on the basis of amaximum of 50%. Concordia University, Nebraska<strong>Course</strong> WorkloadIn the face-to-face, online, and hybrid classrooms at Concordia University, Nebraska, credit hours are amassed in a course throughstudent-to-instructor interaction, student-to-student interaction, Blackboard activities, contact with course-specific content,assignments, assigned videos, and other activities.
