SGL Group – The Carbon Company – is one of the leading manufacturers of carbonbased
products worldwide. The SGL Group offers a comprehensive product portfolio
including graphite and carbon products. An in-depth know-how of materials, production
processes, applications and engineering expertise are the basis for customised
solutions. SGL Carbon Group operates a global sales network and has more than 40
production sites in Europe, North America and Asia.
SGL Carbon Group was looking for a software solution for their group-wide cash and
liquidity management. The objective was to implement the same software in all subsidiaries
that can process the cash management as well as the actual data assignment
and planning. A common actual data and planning structure was to be found so that
the figures from all affiliated companies can be analyzed with little manual effort to
increase efficiency in cash management and to standardise reports. A smooth integration
of the new software solution in the existing SAP landscape was a precondition.
Hanse Orga wins the selection process:
Based on a detailed catalog of requirements and criteria, SGL Carbon Group made a
clear choice: The Hanse Orga FinanceSuite Cash & Liquidity Management is a powerful
tool that fits in well with the system architecture of SGL Carbon Group. Additional
requirements included the following: Quick realization of assignment of plan/actual
data, maximum independence of accounting processes and a user-friendly customizing
in the corresponding departments. These were fully met by the module Cash &
Liquidity Management. Before the implementation of the FinanceSuite Cash & Liquidity
Management, the group did not have a cash planning solution that was sufficiently
efficient. Reports such as liquidity overview, target/actual analyses of cash flow, etc.,
had to be created manually with painstaking effort. This process took a lot of time and
brought about inaccuracies.

With the help of the FinanceSuite Cash & Liquidity Management, SGL Carbon
Group can now perform an exact and quick forecasting which enable positive
interest effects. Thanks to the intelligent liquidity management with the
FinanceSuite module, an efficient cash concentration is now possible.
The FinanceSuite Cash & Liquidity Management provides the company with a
cash flow-oriented actual data assignment to display and monitor short and
medium-term liquidity. An optimised plan/actual comparison is now possible.
For SGL, Cash & Liquidity Management is the perfect tool to build a rolling
liquidity planning to manage medium and long-term liquidity.
The liquidity overview is retrieved daily, which provides the top management and
the group as a whole with transparent information on the liquidity status and the
liquidity trend.
A decentralised planning directly at the subsidiaries of SGL Group improves the
accuracy of data that are to be determined.

The project was realised smoothly and the project costs could be kept relatively low
thanks to the close cooperation with Hanse Orga. Hanse Orga provided a detailled
training to all members of the project, thereby installing confidence and satisfaction
with the new system. SGL Group could then realise the roll out of the system to other
company codes without problems.

automatically imported in SAP and available immediately. The Cash Position Worksheet
is your control center from which you can access all cash management functions. This
ensures a real-time overview of all your group‘s balances - incl. subsidiaries. Both SAP
and non-SAP companies are considered here. The liquidity management is performed
by the system which provides a high degree of reliability. Due to the automated, rolling
actual data assignment, information on available liquidity is always up-to-date and you
can make optimal use of it.
