We offer coursesnationwide that develop skills in swimming, survivaland rescue. We recommend that all members of thepublic learn swimming and lifesaving skills.We are the governing body representing sailing,windsurfing, powerboating and personal watercraftin Ireland. We offer a range of training courses forall types of recreational boaters through our networkof affiliated clubs and "Recognised TeachingEstablishments".We are a registered charity that saves lives at sea.This is achieved by providing a fleet of lifeboats, with24-hour cover and crewed by well-trained volunteers.In addition, we work with other national organisationsto promote sea safety. We are funded by voluntarydonations.We are the principal development agency for theIrish seafood Industry and promote safe workingpractices for the industry which involves Fisheriestraining for both new entrants and practitioners,developing codes of practice, production of trainingmaterials and trials of preventative measures againstrisk on board fishing vessels.The Health and Safety Authority promotes andenforces good standards in workplace safety. Workingwith employer and worker representatives, it seeks toensure that those in control of workplaces adopt safeworking practices, as required by law.Waterways Ireland is a North/South body responsiblefor the management, maintenance, developmentand restoration of inland navigable waterways,principally for recreation purposes. The body hasits headquarters in Enniskillen, with regional officesin Scariff, Carrick-on-Shannon and Dublin.30
