4HeadlineGitnang LuzonMARCH 20, 2013EDITORIALRavenousMany of our cabalen, who are dreamingof a good life abroad, are led towardstrouble by illegal recruiters.Since the time when overseas Filipinoworkers began going to foreign landsto work, many crooks have sprouted toprey on the unsuspecting Pinoys who areseeking for a greener pasture abroad.Thousands upon thousands have alreadybeen victimized by illegal recruiters whosemodus operandi did not really differ fromthe others that have been discovered in thepast. But, despite the many warnings, manystill fall victims to these illegal schemes. There were many suspects arrested inthe past and their modus disclosed forthe public to easily recognize a bogus recruiterfrom a genuine one. But, still, thereare Filipinos who don’t learn from the misfortunesof others and had to endure thetraumatic experience of being duped byfake recruiters for themselves. The 15 individuals from Lubao townwho were led to paying large amounts tosupposed illegal recruiters are no differentfrom the many who have squanderedwhatever little possessions they have torecruiters who sweet-talked their way tothe trust of their victims.Comparatively, these victims from Lubaoare still fortunate compared to many whohave sold their houses or farmlands to payfor their supposed “placement fees” butended up jobless--and homeless. Thereare others, too, who have managed to goabroad but eventually became jobless inthe country of their destination.Shame on those who earn a living--ifthey can even call it as living--on the misfortunesof others. Nos. (045) 435-0938The management of RobinsonsStarmills in the City of San Fernando, Pampangashould now consider implementing aparking-ticket system to deter car thieveswho have stolen many vehicles in the mall’spremises in the past. While the other mall across Robinsonshas been issuing parking tickets to customersand requiring these pieces of papersfrom those going out of the mall premisesfor a long time, Robinsons mall managementremained unfazed by the many incidentsof carnap incidents within their parkingarea.Though there are roving guards andsome stationed in various points, these arenot enough to ensure that vehicles left bycustomers who enter the mall are safe fromthieves.Even the closed-circuit television camerasinstalled in the parking lots can onlyenable reactionary steps from the mall securitybut not enough to block the crimeeven before it happens.Last March 3, Sister Gloria Domingo,a Catholic nun, became the latest victimof car thieves at Robinsons Starmills. Shewas with some companions for lunch and tobuy a few stuff at the mall when their vehicle,an owner-type galvanized jeep with licensedplate WJC-699, was stolen in broaddaylight. They only left the vehicle in front of theRVS Store for less than two hours and itvanished.Sister Gloria immediately reported theincident to the guard on duty, who accompaniedthem to the CRS office to look at theCCTV recordings. Before their very eyesthey saw an individual taking the jeep at11:55 in the morning. The CCTV recording was there, yes. But, the vehicle has vanished and nobodyhad noticed while it was being stolen. Withoutwarm bodies watching the CCTV feeds,Want to broaden your business horizon?Car thieves at Robinsonsthese could only help one see the horror ofhow their properties are taken by individualswho are hard to recognize because ofpoor video quality.Sister Gloria filed a request to DominadorAguilar, the operations manager of theBantayan Security Agency, who deployedthe guards on duty when the carnappingincident took place. The Robinsons mallmanagement has passed the buck to the securityagency. The victim is demanding that all herbelongings lost along with the vehicle bereturned or their equivalent amount paidto her, including a Mama Mary Statue imageamounting to P5,000; new flat iron;and, the owner type jeep that costs aboutP100,000.The request was received last March 5and, it seems to me, it has yet to be actedupon since Sister Gloria asked for media assistanceyesterday to call on the other victimsto surface and press charges againstthose who have been negligent of their duties.Robinsons Starmills has been cashingin on its customers. Through the years, andwith the many amenities that the mall hasadded to its services, the number of peoplefrequenting the mall has increased and thenumber of vehicles using their parking areashas also ballooned. It is high time the mall managementinstituted heightened security measures toensure that their customers and their belongingsare safe from criminals. If it takesa little more money shelled-out by Robinsonsto acquire equipment or additionalpersonnel to safeguard their clients, thenbe it.These additional expenses should beconsidered as investments and not mereexpenditures. Meaning, everything theyspend will return as profits due to increasedcustomer satisfaction. ●LET US HELP YOU!CALL US: (045)455.0267 • 455-0781 • 0928.791.5281 • 0929.110.4744EMAIL US: gl.headline@yahoo.comVISIT US: 2nd Floor U2 Bldg., MacArthur Hiway, Dolores, City of San Fernando (P)Upper CutAmbet Lacanlale“ Throughthe years, andwith the manyamenities thatthe mall hasadded to itsservices, thenumber of peoplefrequentingthe mall hasincreased andthe number ofvehicles usingtheir parkingareas has alsoballooned.”

I was captured by herinnocent smile only to find out laterthat she used me just to get what shereally wanted. She took advantage ofmy friendship to the extent of makingme the laughing stock of all ourpeers and even in our workplace. Tosave her face and her dignity (whateverwas left of it), she deliberatelymanipulated the situation by concoctingintricate lies and availing theso called “connection” of her husband.I regret the day shewas introduced to meby our common friend.I was deeply scarredand some time I felt Icould no longer cast myshadow even at night.Fortunately, I was ableto contain the situationand I found out who wereindeed my true friends. This makes for a potential in a managementposition if you are careful. Strive for coordinator or a consulting position within your work--youare good at coordinating events, assigning jobs, consultation and encouraging others. If you are notinvolved in any volunteer groups, you might consider ways to encourage recycling in your city or acleanup crew in your community. You have a great deal of talent in discovering ways to help in thehealing of the earth. You know that we all have a responsibility and you would do well to turn yourattention in this direction. This new volunteer work may also bring about the opportunity for a new loverelationship--if you are looking.GEMINI (MAY 21-JUN 21)Be as realistic as possible when job opportunities come your way. This time is one of hard work andresponsibility, both in salvaging some endeavors that appear to be failing and in branching out innew directions. You are able to obtain success financially through the power of attraction today. Thismeans that you may improve your position in the world of moneymaking through a business associate, social affair or friend. Networking, as well as timing, can mean success. Today you have the mentalconcentration and discipline to work out the final details of a past project. It may be a good idea to putoff any negotiations requiring personal decisions about a close relationship just now; you have enoughon your mind concerning a business situation.CANCER (JUN 22- JUL 22)This should be a normally active, stimulating day, full of paperwork, conferences and communication.A technical matter may need special attention around noon today. Double-check the facts in front ofyou--mistakes can be easily made by someone new and you will be able to catch the mistakes by justscanning the report. There are increased opportunities for advancement in your job or to decide theadvancement of another person. Keep note of the things you think you might like to see change in theworkplace that would make it a safer or more efficiently running place. These could be discussed ata review or in a report. This evening is an excellent time for taking part in social activities with friends.LEO (JUL 23 - AUG. 23)This is a go-to-it day, like many of your days this month. You may find that you enjoy your job or theresponsibility it entails more than usual. Expect a sense of support and goodwill from those aroundyou. You are at your most practical when it comes to dealing with others and you know just what todo and can act without haste. This is an important time as you are encouraged to make use of yournatural abilities to solve problems. You will also make career gains by your ability to sense quality andchoose accordingly. Take caution in engaging in enterprises which entail the accruing of many debts.Seek approval from higher-ups if there is a chance you might exceed a quota. Work, achievement andambition are where your energy navigates.LIBRA (SEP. 23 - OCT. 23)Putting aside youthful antics, you are now more intent on the secure, dependable aspects. This maymean that you have settled on a particular major in college or a profession in your community. Youwill make great headway in your choices, whether it means you have that perfect job or not. You mayhave a nagging feeling today that no matter how well you are progressing there is still somethingmissing. It may be time to reassess the balance between your professional and personal goals andthe progress you are making with each one. This must be the balance that is right for you--there areno correct answers--but neither side should monopolize your life at the expense of the other. Considera class in personal finances.SCORPIO (OCT. 24- NOV. 21)Unfinished business from the past may weigh on your mind just now. Pace yourself and in surprisinglylittle time, progress will be recognized. You may be of great help to a business associate todayas your compassion is heightened. Information you have acquired or a person you know, could bethe key to guiding this colleague in the right direction. You feel great empathy for others and are usuallythe first to come to someone’s aid. Your artistic talents or your appreciation of art is your way offinding the meaning to your own life and life around you. This could be music, pottery, cooking, etc. This evening, the most enjoyable way to relax is through some form of art. A loved one shares goodnews with you tonight.SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 22 - DEC. 21)Your heart is as big as all outdoors--not only for those close to you emotionally, but for the generalpublic as well. You just cannot be mad at anybody. All you want to do is help, protect and nurture. From those who perceive this, it will be reflected back to you. Just make sure that this feeling comesacross as genuine--because it is. You may wish to strengthen the ties with an older family member, notnecessarily to prove yourself to him or her but to create an avenue in which you can be assured of hisor her welfare. You will begin to see your relationships more clearly this month by recognizing just howmuch you did not know about the people with whom you live. Also, you should open up to relativessince this is a good time for emotional support.CAPRICORN (DEC. 22 - JAN 19)Hard work and responsibility, both in salvaging some endeavors that appear to be failing and inbranching out in new directions, are evident. You stick to routine tasks and avoid starting new projectsfor now. Mental stimulation from others is the key for today. It would be wise to cooperate and compromiseas much as possible. The results of these efforts should be a successful project by a groupeffort. You could be most persuasive with others and influential in speech and communication. Thesituation is a natural for self-expression and lends itself to your particular ideas and thoughts. Youcould talk someone into almost anything. This afternoon would be a good time to weed the garden orwash the car--great stress relief.AQUARIUS (JAN. 20 - FEB. 18)You are just plain witty now and the ideas roll off your tongue. This is a real time for communication--by phone, letter or in person. Your daily routine, which you normally do not give much thought to,should be enlivened. An understanding of feelings, truthfulness and a sense of humor allows you toput much more of yourself into everyday work. This will be perceived and appreciated by those withwhom you interact. This closeness will also make you an excellent listener. Your moods may fluctuateas much as the weather today and this would not be a good time to make any concrete decisionsabout a relationship or a business deal. You have a natural love of life that manifests itself in goodcheer and generosity.PISCES (FEB. 19 - MAR. 20)You may have that nagging feeling that no matter how well you are progressing in the workplace, there issomething you have missed. It may be time to reassess the balance between your professional and personalgoals and the progress you are making with each one. This must be the balance that is right for you--there are no correct answers--but neither side should monopolize your life at the expense of the other. Be asrealistic today as possible. Plans for travel and higher education get good support from relatives and friends.Do not let finances completely dominate your concerns. During this month you will find some financialgains fall apart and some ideas for financial gains will materialize. It is good to just go with the flow for now.
