This project is the result of a 1994 international competition won byHargreaves Associates Landscape Architecture Studio of San Francisco, andimplemented by the Portuguese firm of PROAP, as part of the Sector Plan for the1998 Expo.The park was one of the strategic interventions promoted by the municipalityfor urban and environmental restoration and the reorganization of themetropolitan system. It covers an area of approximately ninety hectares ofpreviously industrial land and is bounded by the rivers Tejo and Trancão.2021
