Formation professionnelle pour acteurs / ParisThe Kinetic Mind of the Actor and the Nature of Dramatic Action!!Polina Klimovitskaya began her career in Moscow in ! the 1960s and has long since established herselfas a director and master teacher of performance around ! the world. !!!Through her unique approach, begun under the tutelage of disciples of Stanislavsky, Vakhtangov, andMeyerhold and forged by her own experiences creating avant garde theater in the United States andPortugal, particularly through her company, Terra Incognita Theater, Polina has catalyzed the creativework and careers of hundreds of performers. » !!In the USA, she currently teaches at Yale University and Michael Howard Studios. !Outside of America, she has taught workshops at several major schools in Portugal, at the ZeroBudget Festival of The Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Poland, and at theNassan Nativ school in Israel. This August will mark her third trip to Paris to teach at l'Ecole du Jeu. !Master ClassPolina KlimovitskayaFrom January 6th to 10thPolina Klimovitskaya’s Kinetic Mind work grewup out of the most innovative traditions ofRussian theater and its encounter with theAmerican avant garde. !Through decades of intensive work, it adaptedto meet the demands and challenges of 21stcenturyactors. !!Kinetic Mind helps actors circumvent the daily,rational mind, which restrains creativity. !Ultimately the technique guides the artisttowards a clearer understanding of his/herindividual nature and development of his/herunique creative core.!!!!The analytical mind can see only a small fractionof experience ; so, seeing instead through theintuitive eye of a true imagination andembodying through the visceral mind of adramatically alive, transformational body is thechallenge of an actor. !!Only in this way can s/he fully capture andportray the depth and uniqueness of humanexperience. !!!

!!The study of the mind through the body and the body through the mind.In this particular workshop Kinetic Mind will be applied to reconsider the primal nature of the actionand its function in the actor's process. !When an actor can recognize and experience every impulse and movement on the stage as anaction, when s/he can absorb action on a visceral level as an essence of the character, !only then can the actor capture and lead the audience through the performance.!!Through a progression of exercises, improvisations and scene work we will investigate :!!1. movement as an action!2. internal/external actions !3. an action as a revelation of the character's essence!4. text analysis !5. speech as a kinetic and mental action!!Scene work will be based on a play announced before the workshop. !Each actor will be expected to bring a monologue from the given play and any other monologue ofhis/her choice, as well as a nursery rhyme or any short poem from childhood. !All actors are welcome to perform in their native languages.!From January 6th to 10th 2014 – Master Class in English (translated into French)Audience : Professional artists, performers/interpreters being professional, drama students!!Schedule : 10h /17h30 (5h/day - 25h00 of courses per week)!Price : 375 € (personal finance). !!
