Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education<strong>PACE</strong> SUT Judging CompetitionStudents and faculty from the seven SUT teamspresented their results to the judging panel at the<strong>2011</strong> <strong>PACE</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> Forum in Vancouver, B. C.,Canada on Thursday, July 28th. The teams wereevaluated in four categories: Market Research,Industrial Design, Product Engineering, andManufacturing Engineering. In addition toassessing the design and technical work of theteams, the judges considered the collaborativestrategy and skills exhibited by each team.The “Top Award Ready for Production” in theProduct Engineering category went to Team 5,comprised of students from Virginia Tech (USA),Michigan State (USA), ITESM-Monterrey (Mexico),and ITESM-Toluca (Mexico). The “Top AwardReady for Production” for ManufacturingEngineering was awarded to Team 6, consistingof students from the College for Creative Studies(USA), Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Mexico), andPrairie View A&M University (USA).The winning teams in each category wererecognized at the Friday, July 29 Awards Dinner atthe Museum of Anthropology on the University ofBritish Columbia campus. Awards werebestowed for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each ofthe four judging categories, as well as an overallbest award for collaboration.Judges selected Team 3 for the Most InnovativeDesign award, the First Place award in the MarketResearch category, and the Overall Collaborationaward. Team 3 consists of students from NationalInstitute of Design (India), Peoples EducationSociety Institute of Technology (India), UniversidadIberoamericana (Mexico), Michigan TechnologicalUniversity (USA), and Sri JayachamarajendraCollege of Engineering (India).P. E. S. Institute of Technology (India) student Vishwas B.
