A career goal I have is to integrating technology into all aspectsof Earth Science.7. Nonviolent Crisis InterventionThis is a full day workshop. You’ll gain a basic understanding of crisis interventionmethods. The emphasis is on early intervention and nonphysical methods forpreventing or managing disruptive behavior. CPI’s Personal Safety Techniques for staffare also demonstrated and practiced in this seminar to prepare staff to safely removethemselves and others from a dangerous situation. You’ll learn: how to identifybehaviors that could lead to a crisis, how to most effectively respond to each behavior toprevent the situation from escalating, how to use verbal and nonverbal techniques todefuse hostile behavior and resolve a crisis before it becomes violent, how to cope withyour own fear and anxiety, how to use CPI’s principles of Personal Safety to avoid injuryif behavior becomes physical. Please do not select this choice unless directed to do soby your supervisor.Presenter- James DerbyJames Derby became our schools Athletic Director in the fall of 2009. As the chair of the Wellnesscommittee he has recently become certified to train others in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention, a programfocusing on the safe management of disruptive and assaultive behavior. Mary has developed aRegional Inquiry Based Information Literacy <strong>Curriculum</strong> over three years with over 100SLMS in 4 BOCES. She was a participant in State Education Department, <strong>School</strong>Library Services Summit, on <strong>Curriculum</strong> and Instruction Team, June 2009. Mary hasimplemented professional development in designing inquiry based learningexperiences, collaboratively designed by teachers and school library media specialists.She was a lecturer at the University at Albany, <strong>School</strong> of Information Science and Policyteaching <strong>Curriculum</strong> and Supportive Resources to candidates for the SLMS certificate-

Smartboard: Online ResourcesWelcome to the endless world of available smartboard resources. Learn how to accessthese resources and add them to your Smartboard lesson book. This class will includethe basic operation of the Smartboard Notebook application.Presenter- Carol GansowskiCarol is one of our computer department techs here at <strong>Taconic</strong> <strong>Hills</strong>. She has been assisting in the useof interactive whiteboards for 2 years.14. Smartboard: Using Smart Technologies Airliners and Response systemsThis advanced Smartboard session will cover using the Smartboard add-ontechnologies such as Airliner wireless slate, and the Smart Response systems. Thisclass will also cover other more advanced Smartboard functions.Presenter- Courtney RemingtonCourtney Remington is an Account Manager in the Commercial Sales Group at Audio-Video Corporation,our Smart Technologies representative. She holds a BS in Corporate Communications from IthacaCollege and an MBA in the Management of Information Systems from the University at Albany.15. Data MentorDataMentor has been designed to provide an effective way of viewing your assessmentdata to make informed instructional decisions. John is going toreview tools available to find Virtual Field Trip sites, Video Conferencing Blogs, Databases of VideoConference users, free training and organizations that promote Video Conferencing in education.17. Moving from Fear to WonderHow do people in an organization deal with change? Do they find it frustrating andstressful or exciting and challenging? In this motivational program, Jim Snack puts anew twist on transition. Using humor, entertainment, magic and teambuilding exercises,participants demonstrate how to make change a positive force in the organization.Presenter: Jim SnackJim Snack is a professional speaker and trainer who works with people and organizations that want tochange with confidence.
