DEANDRE CARTER
For the past 18 years, those who have been exposed to his dynamic success strategies have recognized
DeAndre Carter as a motivational force. Witness to the rough ins & outs of the City of Detroit’s harsh
streets, filled with poverty and the need for change, while molded by the roughness & hustle of Joy Rd.,
DeAndre Carter has longed to inspire and demand greatness from himself and those around him.
From his days as an organizer while a student at Cody High School, DeAndre began to motivate other
students to make a change for the better and strive for success. After graduation, this followed him
to Michigan State University where as a freshman, he chartered a weekly—email based—motivational
newsletter for students, and organized an assembly of former Cody graduates who were currently
attending colleges across the country, to go back to Detroit to speak to Cody High students about
reaching for the stars. During the summer after his freshman year of college, DeAndre hosted his first
conference, inspiring teens to pursue educational excellence. He also customized a program for Lansing
Middle School students at Gardner Middle School entitled Max-Q, to inspire students to improve academic
performance & exit rate, a program that modeled students the entire school year.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Marketing, DeAndre returned to Michigan State
University in the fall of 2005 to cofound The Advantage, a dynamic student-driven organization designed to
help students make the most of their college experience, while
raising the retention rate, and thus graduation rate of
underprivileged and minority students. DeAndre developed a
mission to empower members and encourage them to attain a
high level of academic, personal, and professional success at
Michigan State University and beyond. Since then, he has been
working at his alma mater as an academic adviser and course
instructor since 2006, while continuing to inspire students to
achieve their dreams.

district champion in the Toastmaster World
Championship of Public Speaking, DeAndre’s unique
brand of speaking makes him a hot commodity on the
speaking circuit. By mastering the skill of inspiring,
educating, & entertaining his audiences, DeAndre
has been able to influence people to take specific
actions and steps toward achieving personalized
goals. DeAndre’s audience ranges from business
professionals to collegiate communities.
