OVERSIGHT Municipal Affairs Mayor’s Council The Mayors are concerned over the handling of typhoons. Miscommunication between the government, its agencies, mayors, and media have been stated. Mayors are looking into costeffective ways to dispose of deceased animals on the roadways. They will be looking into a contract with Cloud-9 in Barrigada, Guam. The mayors special monthly meeting scheduled for July 15 has been rescheduled for August 19, 2015. On the agenda will be Maria Connelley from Department of Labor, Sgt. John Bagaforo from the Guam Police Department, and Rose Ramsay from the Governor’s office to talk about Festival of the Pacific Arts. A curriculum is being developed. GVB met with the South Korea Consulate to discuss recent crimes against South Korean tourists. The Japan Marketing Committee is seeking aggressive new strategies due to the recent decline in the Japan Market. Korean Market has been increasing. Air Busan will have its inaugural flight to Guam on July 23. Discussions about Bed and Breakfasts took place. The board examined how many B&B’s are operating without a business license and/or registering as a B&B. We will look into other loopholes allowing B&B’s to operate without a license. Public Hearing for Rules and Regulation of Sports & Cultural Ambassador Program is scheduled for July 22, 2015 at GVB Main Conference Room at 5:30pm. GVB Budget Hearing is scheduled for July 30, 2015 at 2:00pm.
