Opportunities for the health sector 

The global health sector has enormous potential for 

growth and innovation. Together with the International 

Arab Health Congress, the Arab Health 2009 trade fair 

is the biggest event of its kind in the Middle East and the 

sector’s second biggest exhibition at global level after the 

MEDICA fair, which takes place in North-Rhine Westphalia. 

The suppliers of medical products and health services 

from Germany and, in particular, North-Rhine Westphalia 

remain very interested in cooperating with the target 

market of the Arab Health fair. 

North-Rhine Westphalia is the number one federal state in 

Germany when it comes to health matters: over one million 

employees, 500 research and manufacturing companies, 

400 hospitals and over 250 medical institutes at the 

universities are representative of the significant economic 

power and outstanding innovation potential of the North- 

Rhine Westphalia health market. 

North-Rhine Westphalia will present three focus areas 

from its health sector at Arab Health: 

• Companies involved in research, development and 

production. The market-leading products and services 

provided by such companies include both standard 

goods, such as hearing and mobility aids, surgical 

dressing materials, laboratory equipment, and surgical 

instruments as well as highly complex technological 

devices, ranging from heart pacemakers and bio-compatible 

implants to organ replacement in regenerative 

medicine.

Partner of industry for developing emerging markets 

As the foreign trade promotional society for the state of 

North Rhine-Westphalia, we support small and mediumsized 

businesses in particular in developing important 

emerging markets worldwide. Our close cooperation with 

partners from chambers of commerce and industry, associations 

and business development societies allows us to 

offer projects that are especially tailored to the needs of 

export industries. 

One important element of this is participation in international 

trade fairs, where North-Rhine Westphalian businesses 

can present their products and services at joint company 

stands or the information service centres of the state of 

North-Rhine Westphalia. In addition, small group promotion 

offers individualized solutions for exporters to take part 

in international trade fairs and develop new markets. 

Arab Health is one of the leading international health care 

exhibitions and also the number two event worldwide, 

attracting over 2,300 exhibitors from 65 countries and 

hosting 30 dedicated national pavilions. The exhibition 

touches all aspects of he health care industry in the Middle 

East and offers businesses an excellent platform to present 

their expertise and explore their market opportunities. 

For good reasons North Rhine-Westphalia will be represented 

at the trade fair for the fifth time with a information 

service centre and with 47 exhibitors. The following

The clinic of refractive and ophthalmic surgery, Ev. Klinikum 

Niederrhein Duisburg, Germany deals with the most
