Profile of Ev. Klinikum Niederrhein
The clinic of refractive and ophthalmic surgery, Ev. Klinikum
Niederrhein Duisburg, Germany deals with the most
modern femto- and excimerlaser technology and the
most modern lenses in case of cataract surgery. Modern
technology is also used for glaucoma surgery. The medical
director Mark Tomalla M.D. is one of the first users of
femtosecondlaser surgery in Europe. The worldwide first
penetrating keratoplasty was done by himself. Furthermore
the clinic is specialized in diagnostic and therapy of
cornea sickness, mostly in keratokonus treatment with
femtosecondlaser surgery and implantation of intracorneal
ringsegments. Mark Tomalla is the owner of a lot
of patents in ophthalmogy lenses and instruments. The
clinic takes part in multicenter trials of the most modern
ophthalmology surgeries. About 17.000 patients are processed
in the clinic every year.
