Opportunities for <strong>the</strong> health sec<strong>to</strong>r<br />
The global health sec<strong>to</strong>r has enormous potential for<br />
growth and innovation. Toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> International<br />
<strong>Arab</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Congress, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arab</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>2009</strong> trade fair<br />
is <strong>the</strong> biggest event <strong>of</strong> its kind in <strong>the</strong> Middle East and <strong>the</strong><br />
sec<strong>to</strong>r’s second biggest exhibition at global level after <strong>the</strong><br />
MEDICA fair, which takes place in North-Rhine Westphalia.<br />
The suppliers <strong>of</strong> medical products and health services<br />
from Germany and, in particular, North-Rhine Westphalia<br />
remain very interested in cooperating with <strong>the</strong> target<br />
market <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arab</strong> <strong>Health</strong> fair.<br />
North-Rhine Westphalia is <strong>the</strong> number one federal state in<br />
Germany when it comes <strong>to</strong> health matters: over one million<br />
employees, 500 research and manufacturing companies,<br />
400 hospitals and over 250 medical institutes at <strong>the</strong><br />
universities are representative <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> significant economic<br />
power and outstanding innovation potential <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> North-<br />
Rhine Westphalia health market.<br />
North-Rhine Westphalia will present three focus areas<br />
from its health sec<strong>to</strong>r at <strong>Arab</strong> <strong>Health</strong>:<br />
• Companies involved in research, development and<br />
production. The market-leading products and services<br />
provided by such companies include both standard<br />
goods, such as hearing and mobility aids, surgical<br />
dressing materials, labora<strong>to</strong>ry equipment, and surgical<br />
instruments as well as highly complex technological<br />
devices, ranging from heart pacemakers and bio-compatible<br />
implants <strong>to</strong> organ replacement in regenerative<br />
medicine.<br />

• The wide-ranging and comprehensive accumulation<br />
<strong>of</strong> hospitals which provides excellent in-patient care<br />
across <strong>the</strong> entire spectrum.<br />
• Highly sophisticated skills and expertise, ranging<br />
from application-oriented research <strong>to</strong> telemedicalsupported<br />
care based on <strong>the</strong> example <strong>of</strong> diabetes and<br />
cardiovascular diseases.<br />
The German federal state <strong>of</strong> North-Rhine Westphalia is<br />
represented by a <strong>to</strong>tal <strong>of</strong> 47 exhibi<strong>to</strong>rs at <strong>Arab</strong> <strong>Health</strong><br />
