His career as a jurist <strong>and</strong> litigator was buttressed <strong>and</strong> enhancedby his college foundation in Business Administration, where he secured a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Fordham UniversityBusiness School. Coupled with Justice <strong>Victor</strong>’s fair, proactive approach to resolving disputes, he has consistently proved enormously effective,<strong>and</strong> he is known for outst<strong>and</strong>ing results.Justice <strong>Victor</strong>’s achievements, <strong>and</strong> the fair <strong>and</strong> even-h<strong>and</strong>ed manner in which he conducted himself, earned him the Bronx Bar Association’sExtraordinary Service Award, the Columbian Lawyers Association’s Charles A. Rapallo Award, <strong>and</strong> an Induction into the Fordham PreparatorySchool Hall of <strong>Hon</strong>or.Judge <strong>Victor</strong> was elected to the Supreme Court in January 2000, where he served until retirement in December 2009. More than 100 of hisdecisions were selected for publication by the New York Law Journal as a “Decision of Interest” <strong>and</strong>/or by the New York State Official Reporteras a decision “considered as worthy of being reported because of its usefulness as a precedent or important as a matter of public interest.” Twosuch cases include: Reyes vs. Sanchez-Pena, which discussed the boundaries of the “long arm” statute for medical malpractice jurisdiction;<strong>and</strong> Kellogg vs. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, in which an unauthorized autopsy was performed on a formerprofessional basketball player who had been rendered a quadriplegic in a car accident.Prior to his tenure in the Supreme Court, Justice <strong>Victor</strong> was elected to serve as a Judge in the Civil Court of the City of New York. Earlier in hiscareer, he served as a law assistant to Judge Adrian P. Burke at the Court of Appeals <strong>and</strong> as a member of the Bronx County Medical MalpracticePanel, as an Arbitrator for the Civil Court of the City of New York, <strong>and</strong> as an Arbitrator for the American <strong>Arbitration</strong> Association. Justice <strong>Victor</strong>has also enjoyed a distinguished legal career in private practice, as well as counsel to several different legislators.
