Victor brings an abundance of dispute resolution experience and expertise to NAM’s Metro panel.As a Justice of the Supreme Court in New York State, including 5 years as presiding Justice in the NYC Settlement and Trial Assignmentpart and as a Judicial Hearing Officer thereafter in charge of the Pre-trial Settlement Conference Part, Judge Victor engaged in thousands ofsuccessful dispute resolution settlement conferences.In his judicial capacity, he presided over and handled a wide assortment of complex commercial, business and real estate matters as well asan extensive variety of tort, personal injury and medical malpractice actions. His career as a jurist and litigator was buttressed and enhancedby his college foundation in Business Administration, where he secured a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Fordham UniversityBusiness School. Coupled with Justice Victor’s fair, proactive approach to resolving disputes, he has consistently proved enormously effective,and he is known for outstanding results.Justice Victor’s achievements, and the fair and even-handed manner in which he conducted himself, earned him the Bronx Bar Association’sExtraordinary Service Award, the Columbian Lawyers Association’s Charles A. Rapallo Award, and an Induction into the Fordham PreparatorySchool Hall of Honor.Judge Victor was elected to the Supreme Court in January 2000, where he served until retirement in December 2009. More than 100 of hisdecisions were selected for publication by the New York Law Journal as a “Decision of Interest” and/or by the New York State Official Reporteras a decision “considered as worthy of being reported because of its usefulness as a precedent or important as a matter of public interest.” Twosuch cases include: Reyes vs. Sanchez-Pena, which discussed the boundaries of the “long arm” statute for medical malpractice jurisdiction;and Kellogg vs. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, in which an unauthorized autopsy was performed on a formerprofessional basketball player who had been rendered a quadriplegic in a car accident.Prior to his tenure in the Supreme Court, Justice Victor was elected to serve as a Judge in the Civil Court of the City of New York. Earlier in hiscareer, he served as a law assistant to Judge Adrian P. Burke at the Court of Appeals and as a member of the Bronx County Medical MalpracticePanel, as an Arbitrator for the Civil Court of the City of New York, and as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Justice Victorhas also enjoyed a distinguished legal career in private practice, as well as counsel to several different legislators.
