As you know, it is scheduled for Sunday, June 16th, and we will be bestowing theKeser Shem Tov award to our dear members Dr. Kenny and Marla Friedman, and recognizingRabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb as Rabbi Emeritus. The committee has already begun preparing forthe event with fresh ideas and excitement. Invitations will be in your mailboxes one day nextweek. Thank you to all of you who have volunteered since last week. Anyone else who wouldlike to participate, please see Natan, Yankie or myself.I want to take this opportunity to focus and highlight on our Rav’s passion and constantreinforcement of the mitzvah of Chessed within our kehilla. We are fortunate to be a part ofspecial community in which many excel in this area. Many of our own members are involveddirectly and perform various acts of chasadim. Most of them go unnoticed and are not directlyrecognized. For those who don’t realize, the Shomrei Emunah’s Chessed committee is one way tobe involved in Chessed. Currently, there are many people in our community who can use regularvisits and families that need meals. If you’re interested in getting involved with our ChessedCommittee, please contact me. Of course, if you have new ideas to share or ways for us toincrease or improve in this area, I welcome you to please bring them to my attention.Please make special note of the evening that the Israel Committee has planned for our Shul andthe community in honor of Yom Yerushalyim. This event will take place this upcoming Sundayevening (May 5th) at 8:00 p.m. in our Shul. Our very own member, Shlomo Horwitz, has preparedand will deliver the Guest Presentation. This is sure to be a memorable evening for all.Lastly, I want to remind our members about the importance of safety and making a KiddushHashem in the most common forms. Please pay attention and continue to obey all posted trafficsigns (yield, slow, stop, traffic signals and speed limits) when coming to and from Shul. When weleave Shul on Friday night, please walk on thesidewalks instead of in the street and cross atan intersection with a light.
