On occasion (not rare, but does nothappen all the time, the <strong>GMOS</strong> detectors will not shuffle for the first subexposureof a new Nod & Shuffle exposure. The sky subtraction will not begood, this parameter corrects for the imbalance by scaling the shuffle imagesproperly. Note that photometry is not preserved, but since the telescope noddedwhen the detector refused to shuffle the photometry is messed up from thebeginning.
