Crespi Hall of Fame CommitteeBy Dave Sehnem ’68, Chairman 2011 Crespi Carmelite Hall of FameDave Scheper ’76 accepts his Induction to the 2011Hall of Fame while Ed Marek’77 enjoys themomentDave Sehnem ’68, 2011 Hall of Fame Chairmanpresents the Induction to this year’s recipient CaseySnow ’93 with Crespi’s Head Baseball coach ScottMuckeyI have been around Crespi for the past eighteen years coachingbaseball, and have attended several HOF dinners in the past. Aftermy induction this past year, I came up with several ideas that I feltcould be easily implemented for the benefit of future Inductees toendear them MORE to the school. Here are a few things that Isuggested:1. Involve all existing HOF members in monthly meetings andhave them vote to decide who gets nominated and inducted.2. Start a “Mentor” program in which the mentor acts as a liaisonfor the Inductee and helps him choose his presenter, writehis speech, contact all of his family, friends, classmates, andteammates and invite them to the event.3. Present in person a HOF induction announcement to each Inducteeand take a picture to share with the committee and theschool.4. Re-design the structure of the event to limit the time to threehours.5. Design and present each HOF member with a HOF lapel pin.6. Invite each HOF member to the event free of charge.7. Involve current student/athletes and their parents in the eventby asking their respective coaches to invite them, free ofcharge. (limited to four student/athletes)8. Involve the HOF committee in gift gathering for the silentauction, so that we can keep 100% of the proceeds to fundthe event, and be able to help future HOF Inductees withtravel expenses if necessary.9. Golf Tournament Hits a Hole-In-OneBy Mara ReddenThis past Spring, the Crespi Golf Tournament was not only the largest high school golffundraiser in this area, but also had the largest number of golfers in our history. Over 160golfers, 20 dedicated Committee members and 50 volunteers added up to a big success.Crespi again exceeded its goal, netting over $60,000, and welcomed many new faces includingparents, alumni, and friends. This year’s tournament saw many new faces, that includedcurrent parents, alumni, and friends.Next year’s golf tournament will be held at North Ranch CCon April 30.
