We have several unique attractions including a naturalpond, hiking trails, and a native Wisconsin prairie.“Meadow View – Write On” was the school theme in 2010‐11 and our goal focused on improving our students’ readingachievement. Reading benchmark assessments wereused to monitor our students’ progress as well as a datawall. Children in need of extra assistance received helpfrom classroom teachers, an intervention specialist, andour Reading Specialist in a small group setting. As a resultof these and other efforts, our students continued to scorewell on the reading portion of the Wisconsin Knowledge &Concepts Exams.Meadow View built strong partnerships within the buildingand community. Our PTO was very involved this year. Theirmain goal for the year was helping to infuse technologyinto our classrooms. 300 Park Lawn Street | <strong>Oconomowoc</strong>, WI 53066 | Ph 262 560 8205Park Lawn is a neighborhood school located near thedowntown area of <strong>Oconomowoc</strong>. It serves over 500students in K4‐4th grade and is privileged to servestudents with severe special education needs fromacross the district.Park Lawn’s PTO purchased books for all classroomsas well as provided a free book for each studentfrom the book fair. The group also funded most ofthe project for Park Lawn’s closed circuit televisionstation where a morning show is produced each dayby the children.Park Lawn offers many after school activities includinga chess club, math club, student council, afterschool sports, Special Olympics, science fair, and talentshow. In order to meet the needs of the parentcommunity, student performances are held in theevening.Park Lawn had two goals this year. The first goal wasto increase student achievement in writing. The percentageof students scoring 6 or above on the writingportion of the WKCE increased from 58% in 2009to 73% in 2010.For the first time ever, Park Lawn had two studentsreceive a 9 on a 9‐point rubric in writing.The second goal was to increase student achievementthrough the use of innovative technology.The school piloted several technology initiativesincluding iTouches for classroom use. An actionresearch study examined the implementation andimpact on 3rd grade math outcomes. IPods wereused with kindergarten students as listening centersfor reading and iPads were utilized with specialneeds students.The overall theme for the school year was “WildAbout Park Lawn” and the children showed theirlove of Park Lawn in many ways. They namedtheir new panther mascot Midnight through anall‐school election. Thestaff of Summit school is comprised of highlyqualified professional educators. Our staffmaintains the standards and practices of aprofessional learning community, collaboratingwith one another and implementing bestpractices to further student learning.Summit students perform very well on theWisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exams.For example, 94 percent of our studentsscored proficient or advanced in math lastyear. Similar performance was realized inreading.Summit enjoys a valuable resource in its volunteers.The school’s P.T.O. is very active, providingBirthday Books for students, subsidizingfield trip costs and hosting family eventsthroughout the year.Our second annual all‐school field trip was afantastic experience for everyone! <strong>Oconomowoc</strong> High <strong>School</strong>641 E Forest Street | <strong>Oconomowoc</strong>, WI 53066 | Ph 262 560 3109<strong>Oconomowoc</strong> High <strong>School</strong> is a comprehensive school serving almost 1500 studentsgrades 9 through 12. <strong>Oconomowoc</strong> High <strong>School</strong> students can choose fromprogramming in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, AdvancedPlacement, Project Lead the Way, Transcripted Technical College credit and manyother vocational course options. Many of our students enter college having earnedcollege credit during high school through one of these programs. This year we had twostudents honored as National Merit Scholarship Awards recipients and averaged 30 collegecredits for our full diploma IB students upon entering college.We offer a wide array of extra‐curricular activities and our students perform well in competition inthese activities. This year we had teams that competed at Sectionals and State levels in crosscountry,basketball and softball. We also had students compete in DECA and FBLA at the Nationallevel. Our drama program earned several Tommy Awards for their musical theater production ofBye Bye Birdie, which this year was judged at the state level.With a constant effort to improve, we accomplished our school‐wide goal of reducing the numberof course failures for our students.
