Fiberfrax ® Ropes,Braids and JointingsFiberfrax ® Ropes, Braids and Jointings are afamily of dense, resilient, ceramic fibre materialswidely used for a broad variety of hightemperature gasketing, packing and sealingapplications.Fiberfrax ropes, braids and jointings exhibit excellentchemical stability, resisting attack from mostcorrosive agents. Exceptions are hydrofluoric andphosphoric acids and concentrated alkalis. They alsoresist oxidation and reduction. If wet by water orsteam, thermal and physical properties arecompletely restored upon drying.GENERAL CHARACTERISTICSFiberfrax Ropes, Braids and Jointings possess thefollowing outstanding characteristics:• High temperature stability• Lightweight• Resiliency• Flexibility in use• Excellent thermal shock resistanceFiberfrax Ropes, Braids and Jointings contain aportion of organic fibres which burn out at lowtemperature. This has no effect upon the insulatingperformance of the products. Initially some smokegeneration will occur, this will cease when the organiccontent is burnt out.TYPICAL APPLICATIONSRope and HD Rope• High temperature seals and packings in furnaces and heatersCord• Door seals for stoves and ovens• Thermally insulating pipe wrapBraids• Kiln car seals• Furnace door sealsJointings• High temperature door seals• Mould sealsBourrelet• Fire protection expansion joints• General maintenance sealsAny new and/or special use of these products, whether or not in an application listed in this datasheet, must be submitted to our technicaldepartement for their prior written approval.Information contained in this publication is for illustrative purposes only and is not intended to create any contractual obligation.FFX/Tx/002/E/R1February 2004Printedin FrancePage 1 of 4
