Totalling five million dirhams<strong>ET</strong>’s logistics division enters intosix new contracts during FebruaryWill jointly bid for upcoming public transport tendersMemorandum of Understandingsigned with multinational giant KeolisNews4The Emirates Transport Logistics Divisionhas signed six new contracts duringthe month of February, in additionto the renewal of another two, with thetotal value of the new contracts exceedingfive million dirhams.Bader Al-Attar, Executive Director ofthe Logistics Division, said that thesix new contracts entered into by thedivision, through the various <strong>ET</strong> businesscentres, include five vehicles leases- two of them through the LogisticsServices Centre and three through theValet Parking and Motorcycles RentalCentre - along with one new con-tract concluded through the PetroleumTransport Centre, that comprises of theprovision of transport and maintenanceservices, as well as provision of supervisors,in favour of one of the majorcompanies operating in the oil sectorin the State.Al Attar also pointed out that the ValetParking and Motorcycles Rental Centrerenewed two contracts during the samemonth.The Executive Director of the LogisticsDivision at <strong>ET</strong> added that the year 2014proved a pivotal year for the corporation’spresence in this sector, witness-ing the development and expansion ofoperations in the market, and the integrationof services, equipment and sitesthrough the development of supportservices such as customs clearance,packaging and assembly, managementof shipping operations, and establishingadministrative units specializing inair and maritime transport.He said that the corporation aims tointroduce more services to completeits presence throughout the so-calledsupply chain during the next two years,which will allow a big jump in the corporation’swork in this area.Emirates Transport and the French publictransport group Keolis signed a Memorandumof Understanding in Dubai, pavingthe way for the two sides to jointly bidfor upcoming operation and maintenancetenders within the UAE public transportsector.Keolis is a world leader in passengertransport, operating all modes of transportacross four continents. The French-basedmultinational is supported by two longtermshareholders; the French NationalRailways Corporation (SNCF), whichholds a 70% share, and the Canadianinstitutional fund manager (CDPQ) whichhas a 30% share.Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, GeneralManager of <strong>ET</strong>, said: “We are delightedand excited to have this opportunity towork with one of the largest public trans-port providers in the world”.“The transport sector in the UAE has witnessedmajor growth and developmentover the last few years and, through thispartnership, we aim to make our contributionin the sector by combining ourconsiderable expertise and resources,” headded.Karim Chaiblaine, CEO of Keolis in MiddleEast, said: “We feel very privileged toenter into a partnership with such a prominentcompany as Emirates Transport. Weshare a commitment to safety and customerfocus, and are determined to provideworld-class services to the residents of theUAE. This is the first step in a long-standingand successful relationship.“Emirates Transport will bring to the partnershipits breadth of expertise and its excellentcredentials. In particular, EmiratesTransport is very experienced in the operationand maintenance of heavy vehicles,and in sourcing and managing local suppliersand partners.“Its deep knowledge of the local contextwill be essential in recruitment and training,particularly during critical phasessuch as mobilisation,” he added.5Issue <strong>57</strong>Discussed the implementation of joint projectsEmirates Transport Technology Solutions discussedareas of cooperation with China’s HuaweiAbdulla Ahmed Rasheed, General Managerof Emirates Transport Technology Solutions(<strong>ET</strong>TS), a subsidiary of Emirates Transport,received a delegation from the Chinesecompany Huawei Technologies Co Ltd,which included the company’s Vice-Presidentsin the sectors of information systemsand transport.During the meeting, the two sides discussedmeans of cooperation in areas of transport,communications technology, and informationsystems, as well as a number of topicsthat will contribute to building stronger futurerelations of cooperation between thetwo companies.In his comments during the meeting, AbdullaRasheed said that <strong>ET</strong>TS works to providetechnology and communications systemsand solutions associated with transport services.The <strong>ET</strong>TS general manager welcomed theinvitation from the Huawei delegation tovisit the headquarters of company in Chinato get closely acquainted with the company’sbusiness and the areas of cooperationand development.APRIL 2015
