A F O A C H A P T E R D E V E L O P M E N T A N D S U P P O R T26AFOA QUEBECMembershipAFOA Quebec had 34 members at March 31,2009.Training and Events> A Workshop on Financial Reporting for new accounting standardsaffecting First Nations held in English with simultaneous translationin French on November 13th, 2008 in Gatineau, Quebec;> The Annual General Assembly of AFOA Quebec was held onNovember 13th, 2008 in Gatineau, Quebec;> Participation in the AFOA Canada National Conference held fromFebruary 24th to 26th, 2009 in Calgary, Alberta;> A Workshop on Financial Reporting for new accounting standardsaffecting First Nations held in French on March 19th, 2009, inQuebec City.Other AchievementsAFOA Quebec assisted several students to attend AFOA Canada AnnualGeneral Assembly in Calgary and also sponsored several other individualsto attend its workshops. AFOA SASKATCHEWANMembershipAFOA Saskatchewan had 181 members at March31, 2009.Training and eventsOur 9th Annual Fall Conference was held November 5th & 6th 2008 inSaskatoon Saskatchewan.Our conference theme was“Understanding FirstNations Financial Reporting Standards”.The format for Day One of the conferencewas based on a wide range of topics.Day two’s focus was on the requirements proposed by the CanadianInstitute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). With over 140 delegates in attendanceand 20 participating trade booths the event was an overwhelmingsuccess and the feedback was positive and uplifting. We lookforward to hosting more conferences focusing on financial literacy andgovernance for First Nations in Saskatchewan in 2009/2010.Other AchievementsAFOA Saskatchewan builds on its successes with an extensive “CorporateMembership Package” including a new website at www.afoask.ca. AFOASK is proud to report the growth of our corporate membership. As comparedto 2007/2008 AFOA Saskatchewan had 0 corporate members wenow have 9 corporate members.
