Choose to rearrange your priorities and giveup something discretionary. Redirect Present Expenditures. Redirect short-term expenditures thathave been or will be paid off in the very near future. Increase Giving with Income Increases. Commit income increases for aplanned time of giving…such as A SEASON FOR LEGACY. Delay and Liquidate Recreational Assets. Vacation property, a recreationalvehicle, a special trip, or another family goal. Appreciated Property. Donate real property (vacant land or a vacationhome/property). If you have owned the property for more than one year,you would receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of theproperty by donating it. Personal Property. Gift our personal possessions like precious metals,jewels/jewelry, valuable collections (e.g., coins, stamps, baseball cards), art,recreational vehicles. Investment Securities. Gift appreciated stock, bonds, mutual funds, orother investment securities. Contribution from an IRA. Gift a portion of a sizable IRA that may notbe necessary for (immediate) use.What do we have to pass on to the next generation? Is there anything worthwhile,or will we just spend our lives squandering the faithful deposit of those who have gonebefore us? Let each and every one of us do our own part in providing a place wherefaith is welcomed into the hearts of future generations. Let us dedicate ourselves toserving well in this Season for Legacy. Like David, let us live now so others can livemore abundantly in the future. David now borrows this same term as a spiritual metaphor of consecratingour wealth to God and seting our lives apart for God’s purpose.
