PARISH NEWSCastle Carrock & Cumrew Districtwww.castlecarrock.comNEWS FROM THE PARISH COUNCILFor those of you not in the habit of perusing the villagenoticeboard, we can now tell you that subsequent tothe recent parish council elections, held in early May, yourparish councillors are: George Devereux (Chairman), DavidLow (Vice Chairman), Keith Brown, Richard Johnstone,Derek Knight, Guy Widdowson and our newly elected councillor,Dave Hassall. Contact details for all of the above arelisted on the noticeboard. Meetings are generally held onthe second Wednesday of each month and anyone is welcometo attend. A reminder that this was a six-part series ofshort radio documentaries made for BBC Radio 4 25 yearsago. This final episode focuses on the school, so if youwere a pupil — or a parent — in 1987, this one’s foryou….you might well recognise some of the characters whoappear.June 2012St Peter’s RestorationGreat news from St Peter’s Church — after months,if not years of preparation, we have finally been grantedpermission to start restoring the building. The ‘Faculty’from the Diocese (the Church equivalent of planning permission)arrived early in May and means we can now startplanning the restoration work in earnest. We’ve also appliedto Carlisle City Council for planning permission to extendthe vestry. Don’t be fooled by the word ‘Tearoom’ onthe application — it’s just a rather grand term for a modestextension to provide a disabled loo, and facilities for teaand coffee making.
